At what age did you become a grandparent?

61, with 2 grandchildren now 6 and 3. now 68 husband nearly 70, and both starting to feel more tired. wish i was l0 years younger. still, I wouldnt be without them.

Going back to Flossieturner's original posting, my oldest GD is 11 and I have done the school run more times in the last 11 years than I ever did when my own children were at school. By the way, I was 56 when I became eligible for Gransnet but my mother was 52 and her mother 45. I suppose that demonstrates changes in society.

I had my eldest daughter at 21 and four in 9 years.... I remarried and had my last son when I was 42! My second daughter had her first child at 21, so I was a granny at 45. I am 55 and have 6 gorgeous grandchildren now, including twins. I work full time and have an almost 13 year old ... I look after the twins on Saturday mornings and see no1 daughter's children regularly. My other grandson is on the mainland, so don't see very much of him?.... love them all!!!!

58 and again at 61. If all goes accordingly to plan there will be more to come from son. Best job ever :-)

57yrs we were late starters so was kids wish I'd had them earlier as energy not as it was we have another to arrive in March that will make 5 altogether we are very lucky

60, eldest is now 12. I now have 6 , youngest just turned 1 and there may be more to come, who knows?

loopylou, I was still in my 30s when I became a Great Aunt It does sound a lot older than Nana.

I was 55 when our one and only was born. Adore her (of course) highly unlikely there will be any others to join her. Our boys (42 and 40 respectively) don't want children and DD isn't going to have more.

I was 48 and still with a 10 year old at home! It can be really strange switching between roles and sometimes it all merges and I'm answering to mum from my grand children who are now 2 and 6. My third from my eldest son is due at any time and I can honestly say I am enjoying every single moment of being a grandma and being mum to a teenager!!

I became Step-Nanny at 40, 2nd Step-GC at 43 who I was very close to as children. 2 other Step-GC not very involved with.

Became "proper" Nanny at 54 when DGS born - very close even though we don't see lots of each other. We adore each other, he is special as he is my DD's, had thought she might not have children although she loves children but circumstances seemed to be against her having her own.

My DM was 81 when she became Great Granny which she loves, again a day she never thought she'd see as I was an only child as is DD

I was 63. Amazing to see how many Gransneters were under 50!

49 for first DGS now at Uni, youngest DGS now 6.

I am a new grand mum at the age of 60. Gorgeous little boy born 7 weeks ago. I hadn't minded whether or not I had grandchildren and the strength of my love for him has completely taken me by surprise. It's as though he's always been one of the family.

I was 64. DGS1 will be 5 on the 20th of this month. 2DGDs since then, and awaiting birth of DGS1 who is 11 days late today. Beginning to get anxious!?

I was 56 and 58, they're now 12 and 10 - still waiting for the rest, though not looking promising

I was 28 when I had DD1 and she was 28 when she had her first son.

DS and DD2 not making any moves in that direction at 39 and 37 respectively.

I was 47 when the first one came along and 3rd has just arrived 8 years and 51 weeks later, they are sisters and have a boy cousin inbetween. I have also just become a great auntie at 56.
I am the eldest sibling and my mum had said no grandchildren until she was 50, my first was due 4 days before her 50th but was born 4 weeks early. She was 25 when she had me and I was 25 also. Her (and my dads) great grandchildren have doubled from 2 to 4 in a matter of weeks, they are both 82 now but seem to do more childcare than I do.

I became a granny at 67 - thought it would never happen. My GD is now 2years and I take care of her a couple of days a week. I absolutely love the time I spend with her and she keeps me young. I have every intention of seeing her grow up.

58, my DD had many years of IVF to get her 2 beautiful girls, they are now 3yrs and 18mths.
