DH was told last week that his cancer is in remission

Car accident! Dont like the bad back it has given me, but it finally persuaded DH that we need to move nearer my family, so that we have assistance as and when we need it, so looking forward to moving "back home" after 54 years, to a lovely brand new bungalow!! Have been able to have a massive clear out of all the unnecessary possessions we have accumulayed over the years, which has benefitted family members and lots of different charities, win win situation! Secondly, and totally differently, DH agreeing to have permanent catheter fitted recently to deal with his waterworks problems. That has improved both our lives beyond measure.

Several pairs of Ecco Mobile II lace-ups, which have arch supports and lots of underfoot padding. These have really helped my walking. If anyone knows of a good supportive shoe with similar features, do let me know.

Overthehill what are they called? My youngest DS and I both suffer from too much mucus, me coughing and him sniffing/blowing all the time makes for a noisy home!
Good to hear the positive stories ladies. Can't think of anything specific this year but we bought a coffee maker last year and haven't used instant coffee since.
We're off to rural Spain on Monday to see where my DD and family are now living without mains water or power and learning to farm olives and almonds. Can't wait to see them but wonder how I'll cope without those mains- I'm very much a city girl, well suburbs anyway.

What are the pills that work for mucous?

I sold my Company this year so my stress levels are now more manageable and I feels less overwhelmed! I can spend more time with hubby/grandchildren/ageing mother/hobbies old and new. I am over the !

My much adored granddaughter has started school so I don't have to babysit quite so much! I have time to return to some of my hobbies.

On the health side, after a colonoscopy and other tests I have been diagnosed with IBS. Now I'm on the right treatment and no longer a slave to finding a loo urgently.

Not a cordless Dyson, but a cordless GTech - absolutely brilliant and I can lift it with one hand, fantastic.

House renovation virtually done, cordless hand held for stairs and car - what a boon - and a roller garage door which has made life so much easier. Small things - but they are saving so much effort.

Downsizing. Newly done up house and cash in the bank for retirement. That's a load off. Cordless vacuum cleaner is bliss. Whoever thought that we (ahem) more mature ladies could heave three tons of Dyson up and down the stairs? And new grandchild imminent. ..in fact, 10 days late today! Life I'd all good. Fingers crossed.

overthehill I have to agree re the Dyson Cordless best buy this year I just don't think about putting off hoovering until another day it's all done in a few minutes brilliant!!
We have also had a M&S Food Hall opened in our local shopping area saving a 30min drive to the nearest one we had before.

Our new conservatory roof, which has meant that we have been able to spend the whole of the summer in there without having to say "gosh it's too hot to sit in here!". It is now a lovely, light, quiet, comfortable space to escape to.
Oh, and the news that the planned HS2 is no longer destined to thunder along the bottom of our garden (near enough!) but is going to thunder somewhere else instead - if it ever gets built. I wouldn't bet my savings on it!

My depression has lifted, my anxiety lessened and my chronic anaemia seems to be under control. I feel heaps better and hope the improvement continues into 2017. Perhaps I should consider homeopathy?

luckygirl It is good that the house move you were worrying about seems to have worked so well for you.

Oh yes! - new home! A bungalow where I can get about and the garden is more or less flat. The walking on the flat has helped to retrain my brain which lost contact with my foot after an accident, so now my mobility is improving by the day as my balance gets better. Hooray!

I know they've been around for awhile but wet wipes have changed my life for the better.

When my sons were little, I used to carry a damp Jey Cloth around in a plastic bag on a day out. I used to freshen it up under a tap in public loos. Now my grandchildren or me just reach for a wet wipe.

On a more personal note, my three sons who fell out after my dh passed away, are now moving slowly towards reconciliation, that makes me so happy.

I would DH to take your view, the garage and loft are stuffed.

I have actually decided that I do not need everything that I have squirrelled away, just in case So a lot has gone to the charity shops, Freecycle, or local tip. If we find we do need something, we will have to replace it, but hopefully not.
Also, we are to become great grandparents. Now, isn't that a wonderful thing to happen?. ???
