I agree with all. Mumsnet and gransnet are wonderful to read. If you are having a bad day,some of the posts really can cheer you up. I think both are great. I loved the one about coming home from hospital with a new baby, we all know what it is like, but this post made it wonderful. Quote. Just came home with new baby everything AOK until this morning , baby cried for hours can not find switch off button, is this model defective, if so can I send it back? Do not fancy that type of returns goods though as it was awful getting delivery of it. Many mothers seem to have defective models. It's not the noise when you get up..that just takes longer.. it's the relieved ooof when you sit down. Also the aaah when you take the first sip of a cuppa or wine. Also I bought something beige this summer I'm so ashamed

Yes, sweet - sometimes. Like Esspee I often find it scary, sometimes annoying and even angry. I'm there as well - being late to motherhood I'm torn between being a mother and fitting in better with the generation above. (Mother born 1913, had me at 43, me mine 37 and 39).

There are times I'm shocked at the AIBU posts and the responses, how they advocate treating friends - well, their friendships must be of convenience or very superficial. I probably sound like an old grump but I am disappointed to see such self absorbtion, self righteousness and hardness out there.

I'm still there though so must be some kinder people keeping me.

Much prefer Gransnet though - way better sense of humour, kinder, just more gentle and forgiving and understanding...

A hot water bottle and a decent duvet are much better.

It sounds time for some of them to come over to Gransnet. Perhaps they are not so young and trendy as the thought they were.

I've not used an electric blanket since the early 70s when mine caught fire. I woke to a burning smell and a flame creeping towards me....

I check out mumsnet to keep up to speed on what the younger generation's attitutide is to the older generation ( especially mothers in law) frankly I find it scary.

When I was 23, and sharing a cold house with two friends, my parents gave me an electric blanket as a birthday present. I was so grateful. I don't have one now, as the house is warm before I go to bed, although the heating is off overnight. I find my fleecy underblanket, duvet and fleecy bedsocks meet all my needs.

Love it! Is it safe to own to not only having but using an electric blanket? .

She won't want it when she's menopausal!

hmm. I did consider joining a while back, but imagined myself doing so, and realised I would essentially be talking to people like my daughter. Decided against it!
Felt that talking about latest pushchairs just wasnt for me!

I do lurk briefly occasionally though. Some of them do know their stuff when they are talking about the city or whatever.

Can relate to it all. Will investigate getting an electric blanket, they seem very popular!
