I think we are all Gransnet!

gillybob Thu 29-Sept-16 09:32:32

Can't believe that jings has been banned again.

Am I right in assuming someone must've reported her for something or other? hmm

harrigran Thu 29-Sept-16 09:25:55

Oh, I missed your birthday jingl I hope you had a lovely day flowers wine ?
FGS who has got jingl banned this time? you don't do that ? jingl is GN.

seacliff Thu 29-Sept-16 09:14:36

Mcem - hear hear!

TriciaF Thu 29-Sept-16 09:11:24

I've just read this thread - and I had noticed that Jings was missing too.
Hope you enjoyed your birthday, Jings, and that you'll be back posting again soon. We miss you! flowers

stan only knew it was jingles birthday because it's the same day as my sons and have been around here with jingle since day one.

I've always thought that breaking the guidelines led to deleted posts.
Is there perhaps a limit to the number of deletions one may accumulate?
Is one banned when one hits that limit?
Or is it the case that a particular post is so offensive to GNHQ that banning follows? (without a specific explanation).
Are the number of reports taken into account - we're aware that reports don't always lead to deletions.
There are so many grey areas that clarification is needed or better still an opportunity provided for the membership
to have a say in formulating new updated and relevant guidelines.
It really isn't acceptable to have a faceless group dictate to thousands of grown women what they should and shouldn't be saying.
This is not just another 'bring back jingl' thread - it's a bigger issue than that and I think we need a more open answer than 'check the guidelines'.

Welcome to the forum ( and the general crazyness) Jessielovestuna? grin

Luckygirl Thu 29-Sept-16 08:53:32

We all have the choice to ignore threads that we do not like. The solution to Jings' ascerbic comments, assuming you are in some way offended by them, is to leave the thread.

She is clearly an intelligent woman and knows what she is doing. The remarks that cause offence to some are not random ramblings - they are deliberately calculated to make a point strongly in the full knowledge that some will not like it.

I think that she should be free to do this and that the rest of us should be free to ignore them or to drop any thread that we are not happy with if we so wish. If we feel the thread has been hi-jacked by any untoward remarks, we can always start another on the topic.

The only threads that need reporting are those that are clearly advertising or are objectionable because of racism etc.

How does anyone know a birthday on here? Happy birthday to jingle and anyone else today. I thought she was posting less and sounded as though she was in need of a holiday.

rosesarered Thu 29-Sept-16 08:50:31

merlot... yes, somebody told me at the time( 3 years ago?) that because Jingl was sometimes called Rose by a poster, they thought the new Rose ,me, was her.I should have said yes, that would really have caused confusion.grin?

thatbags Thu 29-Sept-16 08:46:22

I've said that "if you can" with a hard stare, btw.

Wobblybits Thu 29-Sept-16 08:45:19

Bring our Jings back, there are far more vindictive posters still posting.

thatbags Thu 29-Sept-16 08:45:14

Apparently she has broken the forum "guidelines".

I think those guidelines are too vague to be fairly applied in all cases. Bit of tightening up on what is allowed as well as what isn't wouldn't go amiss, HQ.

If you can.

glassortwo Thu 29-Sept-16 08:44:21

What would happen over on MN if they banned everyone with a bit of spirit like GN do ... Oops there wouldnt be a Mumsnet as 99% of their posters fall into that bracket.

Come on let's get this GN twee thing sorted once and for all, we might be Grans/Grandads but we are stronger than that.

Or maybe we should all move back to the other side hmm

Nelliemoser Thu 29-Sept-16 08:39:27

Oh I just thought it was Jingles birthday. What has she done this time?
There is stirring up a discussion and being a bit too ascerbic.

She can't say she hasn't been warned.

obieone Thu 29-Sept-16 08:27:13

She has been banned?

Heck. I did notice a couple of days ago that she hadnt been around, but like others, assumed she was away.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

shysal Thu 29-Sept-16 08:07:28

Hope you will be back Jingl. I shall be looking out for the new name! Happy birthday.flowers

NfkDumpling Thu 29-Sept-16 07:36:23

?

NfkDumpling Thu 29-Sept-16 07:35:06

Jessielovestuna is a an excellent name but quite long. Do you prefer to be shortened to Jlt or Jessie.

NfkDumpling Thu 29-Sept-16 07:32:31

So she can't be.

NfkDumpling Thu 29-Sept-16 07:27:19

Well, she says she's not .....!

Alima Thu 29-Sept-16 07:10:33

Could be wrong, often am, but who is Jlt?

whitewave Thu 29-Sept-16 07:09:16

You know people like jing add colour to what sometimes is a bit of a twee site.

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with twee if that is what floats your boat.

But that isn't the only possibility to a site such as this.
Between us we have a wealth of experience and common sense

jing makes valuable and thoughtful contributions to the more personal sometimes unhappy threads
She made much more robust and forceful contributions to other threads like what is happening in Syria, and given the opportunity would been in there all guns blazing.
Her language sometimes makes her unique. No problem with that - we aren't wilting violets. I found that if you shouted back at jing she would often apologise. Lovely lady with a quirky colourful character
This isn't the first time she has been banned and it is beginning to feel like stop and search.
Somehow HQ ought to be held account for their actions. At present they seem petty and vindictive.

Be happy to get an explanation.

In the meantime perhaps you would rely a Very Happy Belated Birthday to jing

NfkDumpling Thu 29-Sept-16 07:02:53

I'm confused here Jessie. Are you saying that it's ok to use sweary words and say what you think but not to generically say that some people have been nasty and vindictive? I hope you didn't take my post to mean that Jingle had been nasty or vindictive, if so it read wrong and I'm very sorry, because she definitely isn't. (Nasty or vindictive that is.)
