Well...I've just returned from the care home visit. During the course of my conversation with M who thinks that she's 96 next week...the carer has told me that she in in fact 92 at the moment. The birthday card that I've ready for her needs careful alteration.

Know exactly what you mean re spaniels and the burrs - it's a design fault in their ears! I think my2 feel their purpose in life into gain as many as possible on each walk.

We are off on holiday tomorrow so today is a last minute freezer-fest, trying to use as many of the tomatoes in the greenhouse as possible. DH has made passatta, I made soup, and after looking on Google, I have attempted freezing some whole. Will now roast the rest and freeze for soups etc. It will either work or no t, but it's better than leaving them to rot!

N&G don't mention spaniels and burrs! Our little delight galloped through a woodland full of burrs and was literally covered in them, to the extent that she looked like one huge mobile burr! Impossible to groom out. It had to be the scissors. She was a sad sight at the end of it all. She is a working cocker with short body hair so that wasn't too bad but ears, tail and all her beautiful feathers were much reduced in size! Still not back to normal. It hasn't slowed her down any!

Sam is enjoying the cooler weather and had a great walk with Grampy yesterday. then sitting with me last night I noticed a huge tangle in his ear ( Sam not Grampy ) . Ears are the bane of my life on our little spaniel so we had to resort to scissors in the end as he had a large prickly burr firmly knotted in !

I'm afraid his current 'do' is now looking a bit lopsided !!

Oh number how sad . I am so sorry to hear that news. Is there no way you can take Mia in? Surely there are exceptions to every rule and the comfort of a pet is well known. Is there a chance of a move to a hospice. I know our local one personalises care and both cats and dogs are allowed to visit .

It's a disaster in the making.

Number I am so sorry to hear about your DH. You must both be so sad and worried. It does sound as if you will need a lot of support when he comes home, so make sure you fight hard to get it. At the moment, it sounds like he still needs some sort of nursing care, not just TLC.

Will be thinking of you and hope you can still come into the kitchen for your own dose of TLC.

I`ve already told him he can come home, but my granddaughter, who works in social assessment, says that before he does, someone will check the house out to see if it`s viable. he wants to see his cat, desperately, and he`ll only be able to do that if he comes home. But I`m scared.
