The shops in St A's were an eye opener for me coming from a wee Borders town. One of my favourites was the St Andrews Wooollen Mill shop along North Street going towards The Scores where you could buy matching Shetland wool and(mini) kilts - well,it was the 60's!!

That is exactly the place I was desperately trying to conjure the name from memories. We visited in the 50's and early 60's but once I moved to London for a year in 1966 (it has been a long year!)I obviously did not travel there so often but my mother did her weekly shopping there once she had learned to drive.

I did catch sight of number's post. I'm pleased that you are being supported by family. Whenever we drive by Muasdale camping site, I give you a very special virtual (hug).

I haven't forgotten Bellasnana. She has been through the most distressing two years. I know that she will attend her sister's funeral in England. Let us hope that she returns to the kitchen when she feels very much stronger.

DaphneB I purchased a mini kilt when we visited Edinburgh (a few years ago). I never did wear it. I gave it to one of our granddaughters. We also bought a mini set of bagpipes for our grandson, who was about eight at the time. When we all returned to the apartment we were sharing, he tried to give us a tune. He refused to give up. The noise was awful. He complained bitterly that they had cost us £9.99. I shall look out the photo and share it if I find it.

kitty Wee Teddy will receive the very best care until he is well enough to go home. It is a relief to hear that parents are welcome to stay with him.

kitty, sorry to hear that Teddy is being kept in hospital. A raised CRP may be a sign of infection - my youngest GS was kept in for a week with an infection which gave mum a longer rest than expected. Granny stayed to do the laundry and keep big brother happy. Youngster is now a very hearty almost-9-year-old. So wishing the same for Teddy.

Afternoon all !

Had a fabulous evening although we did have a chuckle as we left home at 9pm...we NEVER go out at that time..in fact I'm usually in my pjs ready for bed .

I can highly recommend a drive in movie though. It was on a large hardstanding at a Farm, so no mud and nice toilets
( very important !! ) . They parked you as you arrived so everyone got a great view of the enormous screen. You tuned in on FM radio in your car and they did a bit of in car Karaoke before the movie. Then you got given a menu and free popcorn and once the movie started you could text a number with your location code and a lovely lady popped up by the car to take your order for the usual movie munch , hot dogs, coffee, sweets and ice-cream.

Then at the end you were marshalled out so ne delays and home 15 mins later. It was a lovely birthday gift and we had lots of fun.

Daphne I was dead by midday but had a refreshing nap so all was well. The hardest part for me is not usually the nights but that they start talking as soon as their eyes open, whereas I usually take a coffee and an hour to come to !!

LOL * Charley* by number 4 I have it sorted. If I cave now they will take me down like a little pack of wolfettes .I am sure another visit or two and we will have sorted it out .

Oh a chip butty is hard to beat Jalima- good bread, proper butter and lashings of salt and vinegar mmmmm

soop the lovely young couple that bought me the tickets also provided a huge selection of sweets and popcorn. They thought of everything. The GC will be well supplied for ages .

I love the name Teddy or even Theo when he is a little bigger . How proud you must be . I hope he'll soon be home and ready for cuddles. I managed to stay awake for the whole movie Kitty but I have no idea how.

Daphne Asda had some great glasses deals and they are all inclusive of lens ( even varifocals etc) so well worth a look.

* Charley* the film was probably 20 years old I don't know if that makes it a classic or not and don't worry about Sam. He came too. Well behaved dogs are welcome and he was my foot warmer ( and popcorn picker upper !!)

Does anyone know what has happened to dramatictessa ? I wanted to contact her about the Oxford meet up but my pm was rejected.She supposedly contributed to this thread yesterday at 17.00 but I can't find any evidence of it. What can have gone wrong ?

The stairlift is still not sorted
I've had a fight with Amazon who keep putting parcels in my recycling box instead of the box for parcels. Guess what! They get recycled!
The electric spiraliser I bought doesn't work and the firm say it must be returned in its original box which unfortunately has been thrown away.
The house looks as if a bombs hit it and I haven't the energy to do anything.
I'm working too many days.

I've come back for another worry as I've not heard from anybody at all today! I've sent one message but don't want to fuss and send more! They are probably out enjoying themselves and forgetting about the ebony cane wielding, fischu wearing great aunt!

Teddy was on Iv antibiotics last I heard. How on earth they manage that im not sure. Apparently his heart and lungs were fine and they were awaiting blood test results.

In other news, I won the table battle but have lost the chairs! I tend to agree that £255 per kitchen chair is bit much (we need6!) but they are lovely. That big blue warehouse place has similar at £50 each!

kitty they put a tiny cannula into the baby's hand/wrist and the anti -b's go in via that and a syringe every however many hours. As I said Flynn had one as they heard a chest gurgle when he was checked over when he was born and an infection that early can be quite serious if not treated. Regular blood tests showed whether the infection was still,there or not and he and mummy were discharged late Wednesday afternoon (born on Sunday night) SIL stayed in with them, but not in the luxury of their own room, just in an armchair by DD's bed and a curtain drawn round for privacy in a 4-bed Ward!
He was fine and frankly, after 4 days in labour DD needed the extra time in herself. Not ideal, but don't worry !!

NanaandGrampy It was a joy to read your post. The entire experience was a great success. Such a clever birthday gift.

greenfinch That is odd. I'm almost sure that dramatictessa was around at some time last week. I'm almost sure that I mentioned her in a response to her message.

Galen I don't belieeeeeeeeeeeve it. You are most certainly not a moaning Minnie. You've simply had a bellyful of on-going unsatisfactory buggerations to contend with. There was I thinking that at long last your recent irritations had been dealt with. I know that you're not a (((huggy))) type...but, I'm certain that a supportive virtual arm around your shoulders cannot do too much harm.

Did you win the kitchen table on eBay? If the chairs that you like sold for £225 each, they must have been super special. I would take another look at those that the "big blue warehouse stocks..."

You can see the cannula with a bandage over it in this pic of DD3 cuddling her 1-day old nephew, and the second pic shows why DD2 needed that extra time in hospital . They put a little mittten over the cannula to keep it in place and prevent it getting knocked. Honestly don't think it bothered him st all.

Sending great big hugs for you kitty Some people have no idea how much we great aunts worry and tug at our fischus No news is good news remember. I always worry myself sick when I'm waiting to hear the family have arrived safe after a journey, and imagine you must be beside yourself waiting to hear about young Teddy for you and his mum.

A special update for Charleyg
We were enjoying our early morning cup of tea in bed this morning - Rory sitting on a special blanket between us. He purrs non stop as he gets far too much fuss. Well, the back door was ajar. Suddenly, Bracken strolled into the bedroom. She stood staring at us with saucer-round eyes. She played with the handles on a chest of drawers. She flicked at a top of mine that was hanging from the chest of drawers. She had a thorough wash. After which, she jumped on to the bed and thought (for just a wee while) that she may like to join us. Well, she didn't. Off she trotted to wait in the kitchen for Rory to tire of his daily fussin' routine. They've been together on the utility room mat ever since. They've also enjoyed both breakfast and lunch.

Thanks soop I do wish the suppliers would believe me about this is lift! I'm not a silly old woman who doesn't know how to work things!
An engineer just riding it up and down twice is not going to find an intermittent fault.
The most annoying thing is , that they say they'll phone me back and they don't!

soop I find that adorable but I am a tad soppy as you know. She is slowly making her way into the house, it will not be that long before all 4 paws are firmly indoors and after Christmas she will be like Rory and wonder how she ever coped outdoors.

Do you feed them 3 meals a day? I hope not!

Tara spent the entire night on my bed and for a cat weighing marginally over 4kg I have no idea how she managed to take up 3/4 of the bed. It had rained during the night but we had monsoon weather mid am- heaven knows where she was because she does not like rain.

Charleyg Three small meals are served each day. Whatever is left in the dish gets served again at the next meal.

Galen, I hope you feel better soon. I, too, am mad with Amazon. They left a tracked parcel, contents worth £ 120 just outside our gate. I was in the whole time. It's nerve wracking waiting for deliveries.
Please try not to work so much!
