We've had glorious sunshine here today which inspired me to remove and wash all the sofa covers and then go for a walk around all the beautiful big old houses up the road. The trees lining the roads around here are enormous and magnificent. Walking along them is good for my soul

I didn't get in here yesterday but so much goes on, as Soop says! I hope everyone feeling poorly themselves and with poorly husbands can see an improvement. We really do take good health for granted until it is not so good, don't we? Well, I do!

Its a glorious day here at the moment which would have been an advantage yesterday at DGD4's birthday barbecue - though why we have to have a BBQ in October I'm not sure. DSiL and his father and brothers are all very male and spent ages discussing the relative merits of methods and implements etc while the rest of us were chasing the sun round the garden waiting to eat. DD3 did lots of other things too and she is very careful to do special GF stuff for her mum.

The birthday girl was a little star, though I could be a bit biased! And her 5 year old sister was stoic in the face of her little sister being the centre of attention.

I have just made a huge pot of bolognese sauce as this afternoon I have a shift in the library and I am always too tired to think about food. Lots to portion and freeze too.

Number quick thought ....at out hospital you can get an exemption from parking charges if your family member is long term or critical etc. Maybe ask if that's possible?

When I broke my ankle in 2009 and was in hospital for 11 days I decided I was not taking out another mortgage for TV viewing, it is daylight robbery. As for car park fees- they charge 24/7 which I think is very unfair.

soop We managed the trip to the vet, Tara airing her lungs every inch of the way. At least if I am hospitalised, Tara can at least go into a cattery. We arrived early and she was seen early so we were home within the hour. She has now left the country.

I'm almost functioning again. Pretty fed up with me but can now see a tunnel, if someone could turn the light on that would help .

Have looked back through, so much has happened, appreciate the photos, lovely children, adults and views - oh yes, mustn't forget the animals. So many poorly people though, sending hugs to you all. Fortunately Mr C is fine, but a close friend is very poorly, another is struggling with a cancer diagnosis and there is serious horribleness for some family we are close to. Guess that's our three for now.

Will try to keep up with the kitchen . Off to re-stock the cupboards later, serious Mother Hubbard time, may well return with fresh pastries.

Marelli, hospital TV costs are ridiculous, once upon a time patients could take in their own portable TVs, but not anymore, and there used to be TVs in the day rooms, but that`s all gone now. As for the car park, over the last 3 years they`ve taken a fortune from our family, but this time the exit barrier has been out of order for about a month, they must be losing absolutely thousands....that`s the company who run it, not the hospital.
DaphneB, he doesn`t have an Ipad, he hasn`t caught up with technology yet, love the Flynn picture.

As for David, it`s palliative care only now, he`d definitely deteriorated tonight from yesterday afternoon. Thank you all so much for all your good wishes and hugs, they`re so appreciated.

Galen your home is in a beautiful setting, lovely views. Do you find it comforting to live somewhere you and your DH were happy? (sorry not trying to pry just wondering). My DH and I intend (health issues willing) to stay where we are now. I think I would like to stay somewhere where I know he is happy. Some people seem to want to move away from memories.

Had lunch with all the family today. Daughter was 40 and MrsP 71. The two older grandchildren (who are normally a nightmare) were so well behaved. we had to pinch ourselves, they ate all their lunch and played a game on their ipad together like the angels they are not. Lovely day.

What a beautiful day it has been today. We went out to lunch with a dozen friends and then sat outside until 5pm, in fact some were still there when we left - had left the dogs long enough. Nicest day for a long time. I might try and photograph the sunset but it is a bit misty now.

She has all four paws inside the door- she only has to find the courage to stay and that will happen, especially if we have a harsh winter. I cannot see you staying indoors with the rear door open to allow her a quick exit when it is -5C.

Charleyg I would have loved to have seen both cats on the table. I was in my so-called studio...attempting to capture the likeness of a sweet puppy dog. Hey ho! Time to tidy away the brushes and paints and paraphernalia. I'm in need of a and I still haven't read yesterday's newspaper.

My thoughts continue to be with our Granspals in need of a comforting hug.
