We saw a discharge nurse today, who explained all his options. It`s now been decided that as soon as a bed is available, David will be going into a hospice that is situated in the hospital grounds, and which we have been told is lovely. I had heard of it, I have bought from their shop in town, and donated stuff to them as well, but never actually knew where it was. PLUS, it`s a bungalow, so we`ll be able to take Mia to his window.

Oh I have missed you lot today but I have had a lovely time pushing a buggy round (and round) Shepherd's Bush Green and the Westfield Centre to give DD a chance to see a play st the Bush theatre directed by a girl who wants DD to design a production at the Globe next year for her. Little Flynn is not convinced by the buggy and initially just cried his head off to the point where DD thought she might not bother going, but I assured her I would text if he did not settle eventually and she could slip out and meet us. Of course he calmed down eventually , even slept a bit but I was not allowed to stop! If I had had one of those Fitbits I would have clocked up my 10,000 steps! We went to Carluccios for coffee afterwards and those Italian waiters and waitresses were so lovely with him!! They smiled and cooed and said lovely things in Italian and just could not have made us more welcome! Then back to DD's by tube for baby bathtime, feed and off to beddy byes and granny got the train home.
I had no internet access all day so I was left wondering how David is number and how you are doing
Sounds as if Charleygirl- had an exhausting day too. London is SO busy isn't it? (I was back in time for the second part of Bake Off, but fell asleep!)

thatbags my friend had a son who was very vague about school and exams but was most relieved when his results came back - A in every subject. It was a little while before she realised A meant absent. Not sure how she dealt with him.

Kitty My dd is so pleased that quite a lot of people like her blankets, it's given her a much needed boost. She's only just started to think about selling them, and as she works in a call centre she has a couple more orders from there. #fingerscrossed

My Hudl died this morning, so I've had to charge up my old laptop. It feels so clunky and slow, anyway I've ordered a new Samsung tablet which I can collect tomorrow,not a moment too soon.

Oh number you need to get as much sleep as possible, sod the housework! I often wonder why hospitals don't replace tubes and drips right away,they seem to be quite casual about it sometimes.

Back on the boggy brae I managed both wall-painting and bonfiring today. Also a forty winks crash (well, maybe fifty or sixty) on the sofa afterwards. Pea and ham soup with doorstep toast (Bags' own bread, natch) is a good restorative.

Minibags had a physics test at school. I asked her how it went. She said: "Perfect!" Bravado or truth? She was cheerful enough. I think I'll file that answer with the one DD2 used to give me if I asked what she'd done at school that day: "Oh, you know: stuff". If you think that's minimal, bear in mind that I learned more about what happened at school in two weeks when DD2 started than I learned from DD1 in two years! What a bunch!

Same as POGS am a kitchen lurker and only really come in if there is carrot cake on offer, but do feel for all those of you on here that are going through a difficult time, either yourselves or DH's.Life can be awful at times and we wonder how we will ever get through it, but somehow we do.?

*ann8 unfortunately dry AMD is still untreatable. I ma waiting for stem cell implants but I doubt if it will happen in my lifetime.

N&G no it is not painful. I only hope that I do not develop a nasty rash which is one of the side effects.

I have had a long day at Moorfields hospital in London having tests to see if my dry Macular had changed to wet in my left eye, but thankfully it has not. I had yellow dye injected so I am peeing bright yellow urine. I may be jaundiced for the next couple of days- great as I have a solicitor's appointment tomorrow pm.

I think that Tara and I may have another early night- if she would return at a reasonable hour.

number There is a great deal of support winging its way to you and David. DaphneB's comment makes perfect sense. She has managed to find the words that some of us cannot. Please don't fret about housework. If I could, I would happily step in and do it for you. Try to rest whenever you get the opportunity. Thank goodness the McMillan nurses are there to support you and your family through this distressing time.

Yes DB, I know what you mean too. When there is some form of crisis or sadness, that seems to overwhelm everything else.

As soop is aware I am a serial 'kitchen lurker' and a 'blue moon chipper inner' but can I through the kitchen pass on a virtual hug to you an all others in similar situations .

That is so true DB, I remember my mum saying that she couldn't believe that the milk and papers continued to be delivered during the period after my brother died.

Sometimes when friends (or we) are going through a particularly hard time as number.is now, I look at the world going about its usual business and it is as if everything is very unreal and far away - like at the end of a long telescope, but there is a sense of heightened awareness, of total focus on the crisis at hand. I am putting this incredibly badly, but has anybody else had that feeling?
My thoughts are very much with you number and I wish you all the strength you will need

You and your family are always in our thoughts number so just take care of you.
