number my dear, you must not beat yourself up over this, it is not a case of thinking you couldn't manage - it is out of the question. It sounds as if David needs round the clock nursing care on hand which is not possible at home without a live in nurse.
It is not hard for patients to get confused in hospital, they hear so much going on around them, so I would not worry too much if he has forgotten what was said. By "home" he may also have meant "out of this hospital"so again, don't let that fret you.

Tonight David couldn`t even remember seeing the nurse yesterday or anything about the hospice, kept asking when he could go home.
Kitty, if pleased is the right word, then yes, because we don`t have room here for a hospital bed, the carers would only come 4 times a day for 15 minutes a time, and nothing during the night. Having a disabled daughter at home, and not being very physically fit myself, I am pretty sure I couldn`t have managed, not meaning to sound heartless.
Soop, some of your lovely home made bread would go down a treat with a bit(lot) of butter on it. I remember the wonderful smell when getting home from school on the days my mother made bread, Mmmmm!!

Just brought Oscar back from his holiday in Scotland with DD and the granddogs. I think the poor old dogs were glad to see the back of this boisterous puppy who pinched their toys and beds. The GSs were thrilled to have him back home. He's become a very important member of the family. Younger GS even decorated my birthday cake with a picture of the dog!

I am an executrix for my aunt who died in Ireland in February. I have been to a solicitor today to get my signature witnessed and I then sent that and the will by registered post back to Ireland and it cost me nearly £9! I had taken a tenner out to pay for it, expecting a load of change. Maybe I am in a different world.

I have also started the process of a new will with lasting power of attorney also. Soon I will be able to think of other things such as new curtains and when to get this room painted.

I hope I am not hospitalised unexpectedly over the next couple of days because they may be surprised by my yellow wee!!

I must buy a small metal foot operated kitchen bin tomorrow- saw one on line for £119 somehow I do not think so, could manage without.

It is definitely colder here this evening, I think that this may be the first evening that the heating is switched on for a couple of hours.

jollyg Thank you. Ours is a Russell Hobbs. Yes, the addition of interesting seeds and such will be a bonus. He has already bought strong wholemeal flour and tomorrow, when in Tesco, we shall take a look at their bread mixes.

Good for McS. Himself asked for a bread making machine years ago and has used it ever since. He makes all sorts additions to the basic recipe, sesame seeds, pine nuts, any sorts.
I believe you have a Lidl in Oban, and he sometimes uses their bread mixes with additions. He makes big loaves and cuts them up before putting in the freezer and then using as required.

Its a kenwood, but we have had equally good results with a bog standard one from Lidl making bread in India. There the bread is all sweet, as is everything else, and there is no bread flour available, but with trial and error succeeded.

bags Naturally you were concerned when Minibags went AWOL. There were occasions when my son's housemaster at boarding school phoned over a weekend to ask...Is he with you...? Nope! He was meeting up with pals. He wasn't supposed to be out of school. M would then agree to detention in advance of an afternoon of freedom. Crazy! But it worked.

DaphneB Oh how I envy your buggy pushing. Torben, like Flynn, expected the pram to be in perpetual motion. The best exercise on earth for me. I pushed his pram for miles around Bishop's Park and along the Thames. It all seems so long ago. We also visited the Westfield Centre. It's a vast complex.

number I agree, hospices are much more relaxed about animals visiting and if it boosts David a bit, all the better. Will Mia be happy to travel?! A hospice seems a very good option but you must, must get some rest please.

number, I'm so relieved for you that there's the prospect of hospice care. It's the best option for both of you - and for Mia. Therapy dogs are often taken in to see patients, so let's hope they will be tolerant of cats ((((hugs)))).

Just to say, numberplease, you and your David are in my thoughts. Having had experience of three Hospices (unfortunately ), I can only sit back in admiration of the lovely, hardworking staff. Your dear David will be in very good hands, but I'm so sad for you that it has come to this. Love and ((hugs))

number so glad David is going to be moving to the hospice. In my experience, it is a much more comfortable setup than hospital, nursing care but where the staff have the time to give the support needed by both of you. Perhaps they may even allow his beloved Mia to visit. I'm sure a cuddle with her would lift his spirits.

Do take all the support offered and as much rest as you can.

It's good to hear that news about David's care, number, and I'm really pleased he will be able to see Mia, even if only through a window. Love and hugs ?

Minibags (or any kid at her school) can't get away with even being late for class because the teachers take a roll call every lesson (not always obviously) and if M is late or absent I get a text from school saying to call and explain. Once, during a period when M wasn't well, she was "doing a Moaning Myrtle" in the girls' toilets so her guidance teacher, who is male, had to rope in one of the female staff to help with the search because M wasn't to be found anywhere else and, as far as I knew, she had got on the school bus that morning! It was a bit worrying for an hour or two when nobody knew where she was!!

I have heard nothing but good about the hospice set up,I only feel it is so bad that they are not government and NHS funded. I am sure David will be very well looked after and treated there. You are living through a very difficult time and need some help for you all.

It will be a much more relaxed and calm atmosphere, won't it, number?
Perhaps Mia may even be allowed to be taken in to see him in his room? Xx

My instinct is that you and David will both be so much better within a hospice setting number, hope that is how it feels. Mia will be a major bonus and the staff will care for you as well as David. Thinking of you both.
