Talking of unwanted callers...our neighbour (who is in the care home) was foraging on the beach one day when a couple of guys with bibles walked up his drive. He shouted out..."He's not in..." They shouted thank you, and came to see us instead. Although we weren't rude, we didn't encourage them to linger. My sister, on the other hand, would listen and purchase literature - spent a small fortune on stuff that she didn't want. Hid one day in the shed when she saw the men approaching her home. She remained in the shed for a very long time. Afraid that they would return. She never could say NO!

Number, sorry, only just caught up with your sad news. Losing a loved one is so hard, look to your friends for the strength you will need.

I have at last purchased a 12 litre kitchen pedal bin from John Lewis and I will pick it up from Waitrose tomorrow. It is more expensive than Wilko's bins but they were out of stock so I decided to do it and be done with it. My present bin has lasted for many years, I have no idea where I bought it.

wot It's true. My sister could never turn anyone who called at her home away, not without committing herself to all manner of purchases (in aid of some good cause or other.) She isn't religious. As I said...she simply can't say NO!

One good thing about having a video call system at my front door is that I can say anything and those on my doorstep would be none the wiser. Most times I come out with the poor pensioner saga.

You will have mega problems getting us out of the kitchen if *MacSporran's bread is so delicious. I am drooling here. I love it when it is warm.

Charleyg I should know by now that you are not tech savvy. You've mentioned it on several occasions.
We used to get frequent nuisance telephone calls. When the caller asked to speak to Mr MacS he would reply..."he's in prison. I'm minding his missus..." end of call.

I have just ignored a withheld number. I thought that they were now illegal? I do like MacS's reply.

Your fireplace is so tastefully arranged and the flowers are beautiful.

I hope that the bread making novelty does not wear off!

I'm having so much trouble with internet connection at the moment. Seems to be coming and going again. I hope it will be better when we get to UK at the weekend.

McS's loaf looks delicious. My dad took up breadmaking when he retired and usually won prizes for his loaves at the village show. Don't let McS stop!

Ah, the smell of homemade bread. MrB bought me a bread-maker when MiniB was a baby because I was finding kneading by hand too painful. After a little while, he said that it was the best present he'd ever bought me .

A primary school friend of MiniB's, who used to 'turn up' fairly regularly with her after school, said once: "Your kitchen always smell of baking bread". They would often have a thick chocolate spread sandwich before running off to do their own thing.

Actually, sometimes my kitchen smells of soup stock (see the troublesome mornings thread).

That loaf looks delicious soop, afraid my gluten free doesn't look anything like that. My favourite treat is just one slice of proper bread toasted, get away with it most of the time and if I don't it's worth it .

I've had two strange calls from mobile numbers today - when the answerphone kicked they both just played music!

My gf doesn't look anything like that either corner, and I darent even risk eating any non gf.

kitty guess I'm lucky, not coeliac but a fairly severe intolerance. If the rest of the day is gf I can manage one piece of toast. Only those totally gf understand how good that piece of toast tastes!

David was very peaceful at the end, and we were all there, apart from Lynne, who just couldn`t face it. Rena and hubby were 30 miles away in Lincoln when we got through to them, they made it back with 5 minutes to spare, thank goodness.

Wonderful that all of you were there, number. David was able to leave peacefully with all the family around him. Recent weeks have been traumatic for you and I hope you are getting some rest at the moment. It's lovely thst you are keeping in touch with us because we all want to know how you are. Thinking of you.

number you are kind to update us, thank you, been thinking about you all. Not sure of the right word but it was good to hear David was peaceful at the end and your family were able to be as each individual needed to be. You must be exhausted, it will be a busy time but please rest when you can.

Thank you for the update number. I'm glad David died peacefully and that everyone who wanted to be there managed it. Please give yourself some time to rest however difficult it is. You need some time for reflection.
