DB, I think I'm the target because I ran into the kitchen for some warmth and was 'branded' two faced! Oh, well. It's always nice in here!
Alphalock - like wordle but harder!
Good Morning Thursday 6th August 2026
Well...Here we are again, happy as can be, all good friends and jolly good company.
I've been caught on the hop. Come on in and make yourselves at home.
and (((hugs)))

Elegran It was never intended to be a no go area. The more the merrier.
The kitchen will never be empty, soop. There will always be someone who wants a peaceful chat without conflict. Plenty of action going on elsewhere! Visitors can come and go as they wish, no passports needed.
I was on holiday in Sandbanks when I learned to swim in the sea. I was about seven. As a child, I spent many happy hours in the swimming baths. I joined the swimming club and swam at galas. When at the Convent, I swam in the school team and also took part in life saving competitions.
NanaandGrampy Your grandsons will have much to thank you for. It is lovely that you share so much leisure time with them. Lucky boys.
Sorry about the disappointing visit to the GP. I imagine that it won't be too long before you are offered the hip replacement.
corner ...^dust is natural. dust comes and dust goes...*
I understand that Bellasnana will be attending her sister's funeral here in England. She feels that her sister's husband a grown up children would appreciate her support.
number You are never far from my thoughts.
I am no "goody two shoes*. I'm flawed, as are almost all Gransnetters.
The kitchen is a virtual meeting place for anyone who wishes to chat and share their everyday ups and downs. The reason for hoping that people who come together (in the kitchen) do not fight, goes a long way back to a time when I was deeply saddened by confrontation in my own home. I am not an academic and unable to debate political issues. Those who are, put across their point of view very convincingly. People interest me. I do my best to relate and, if needs be, sympathise. That is the person I am. Uncomplicated and some would say, slightly dippy. I can hardly apologise for enjoying pleasant, virtual (sometimes real) companionship. As far as I'm aware, I am not hurting anyone. When the day arrives and there is no other person with whom to share my time...I shall take the hint, take off my pinny and bow out of the kitchen.
Glad you are back soop
I'm hoping number and Bella are as well as can be.
I also went swimming to be with my dad (and to get away from mum!) because we always went to a milkbar for a bacon bap and a mug of horlicks on the way home.
Much good it did me as I can still hardly swim while both my brothers swam for the county.
The music on the St Kilda CD is beautifully soothing. Mystical as is the island now that the inhabitants have moved away. Those inhabitants were made of stern stuff. Some time ago, we visited a gallery on the island of Gigha in which there was an exhibition of photographs. We bought a book of poetry dedicated to those same people.
Thanks bags
I had redirected our landline to my mobile because I was working outside. Took me a wee while to get to the computer.

Just had a call from soop: internet down again and her landline. She informed me that she is in a "very bad mood" as a result. She'll be back in the kitchen as oos as the broadband fairies bloody get to work
Aha! bags will no doubt be telling you lot that I'm without the internet. No connection since about seven-ish last night. I tried to text bags blow me down with a feather...no network. I went everso slightly bonkers and phoned her on the landline. She's a good hearted soul. Forever putting up with my pathetic bleatings. Within ten minutes of speaking with bags the amber flashing light went away and we had three blue lights...back in the modern world, until the next time.
About to catch up with all the messages. Back soon.
Forgot to say I was 7 or 8 years old
I was around 10 when I learned to swim. I went daily with other members from my school to the nearest swimming baths in Dundee during the Easter holidays. That was a bus ride, a trip on the ferry and then a walk to the baths. It took 2 lots of Easter holidays for me to become a confident and competent swimmer.
I learnt to swim because it meant time with my father. It was a unheated pool and we swam on his way home from work so after 6pm but none of my other brothers and sisters wanted to come so it was just him and me - worth the cold and unsweetened tea.
Good Morning all !!
I hope today finds you all in good spirits and that Number and * Bellasnana* are doing as well as they can be in the circumstances.
Their loss makes me feel a touch mortal so today I shall be enjoying the company of DGS4 in the pool . I think I might need extra cuddles
Now Jackson is at school , we go swimming with him after school on Fridays so Cooper has stepped up and has started coming with us on Wednesday afternoons. The only drawback is there's simply nothing of him and although the pool is heated he gets cold very quickly . So 20 mins is about his limit . Sometimes it seems like such an effort for not much but we want him to be able to swim as quickly as possible and whilst he has no fear we thought we would strike whilst the iron is hot.
I was thinking back the other day and I cannot remember a time I couldn't swim ( being brought up by the sea and a Navy Brat meant we were always by the sea ) but I wondered... when did you learn to swim?
Well , time to go and tidy up *( oh....one bit of good news, we had a viewing yesterday and 2 whilst we were away to the house sale saga plods on !!)
Happy days x
I agree Daphne which is what prompted me to comment on a thread that has become very confusing to follow , normally I wouldn't bother but whilst I understand that not everyone likes / appreciates/ feels the need for the 'kitchen' , that's no reason for it not to exist.
"Waves at other threads" come on in , you're always welcome.
Well said on the "other" thread N&G. Different threads should not be represented as being in opposition to each other. Speaking as someone who left because of a degree of "ganging up" by unnamed persons, and had to change her name when I rejoined, I may be the target here. But I have found friendship and a total absence of snide backbiting in the kitchen so make no apologies.
It was an unfair slur.
I am lona, but do I believe it??
bellasnana So sorry to hear of your sad news. Please accept my sincere condolences.
Bellasnana, I`m so, so sorry to hear that you`ve lost your lovely sister, my thoughts are with you. I`m sure you`ll take some strength from all the messages and good wishes on GN, as I have.
We made the funeral arrangements this afternoon, but have to wait until the end of next week.
Crafting I quite agree and we have not heard from that particular GN on any other threads for a few days.
My condolences to Bellasnana, too. She has had such a lot to contend with. I hope Bella can cheer her up a little.
And poor you Wb. I don't know whether to hope the physio works or not.
bellasnana, thinking of you
I hope the physio helps wb
