A rose by any other name?

I was looking on Mumsnet this morning for a post my daughter was interested in and noticed how many people on their 'go anonymous' , something we can't do( unless I'm mistaken).

But it got me thinking about name changes ( for whatever reason) .Is it widespread here on GN?

Do people change names as their circumstances change? Or to hide? or????

Just curious smile

I've always used my own name, on other forums too. Except sometimes I'm PatF.
Family call me Tricia, other people call me Pat, so I suppose I'm easily identified.

Falconbird makes me think of gentle Native American people

Falconbird Fri 30-Sept-16 07:38:31

Thanks millymouge - I like your name, it sounds sort of French.

millymouge Fri 30-Sept-16 07:30:26

The name Falconbird made me think of you soaring high in the sky, rather lovely. Not in the least severe.

Ana Yes, I was a truck driver! grin

My favourite name on here must be Parsleywin. I don't really know why

We used to have a cat called Mildred. She was a real sweetie!

Mildred Mon 26-Sept-16 19:33:27

I don't like my name either but I am impatient and after having two names rejected (and I have never seen posters using either of those names) I thought bet no one has picked Mildred. So here I am not a grump but usually in a hurry.

I don't like my name Falconbird very much. It sounds very sort of severe and I'm not at all like that. I can't be bothered and don't know how to change it anyway.

Ana Mon 26-Sept-16 18:56:40

I thought CB users were all truck drivers!

I like the name Wobblybits. It makes me smile every time I see it or type it. Please stay as Wobblybits. smile

Ana Mon 26-Sept-16 18:09:17

That's a good one, kitspurr - funny and witty!

Wobblybits Mon 26-Sept-16 18:09:09

I'd love to go back to Pompa. I'm good at pomping grin

Wobblybits Mon 26-Sept-16 18:08:07

Pompa, G&T, Bogoff, WB's and they are the polite ones. But Mrs P has always been Mrs P.

Kitspurr Mon 26-Sept-16 18:03:03

My favourite name on mumsnet is lesismiserable. Makes me chuckle every time.

millymouge Mon 26-Sept-16 17:25:22

Quite often when I see some of the names people use I can't help wondering what they look like, in real life I am sure they are nothing like I imagine. It's interesting knowing how people choose their names. Mine is what I call my little car, not quite sure how that came about though.

What a beautiful memory Cherry. smile

Yes, CB radio was the social media of our time, wasn't it? grin

Cherrytree59 Mon 26-Sept-16 00:01:41

Ruby we have a lovely Cherry tree in the garden. My DD was living with us when she had our first GS.
As it was summer when he was born I would sit with him in the shade under
the tree.
It is a memory that I treasure.

I now put a rug under the cherry tree for all three GS to play on.
They came along like buses,
One after the other. grin

I remember the CB radio days
I was Bud and my sister was Ben.

I'm pretty sure he was GandT shysal. Such a distinctive personality, he is easily identified IMO.

rubylady Sun 25-Sept-16 23:05:20

Cherry I use Ruby from when I used to go on the CB radio, it was my handle then so I've used it ever since. It is my birthstone too so that is where it came from originally, and, of course, I am a lady. grin

Where did your name come from? X

Cherrytree59 Sat 24-Sept-16 14:49:04

Ruby why not Ruby in RL.
Especially if it means something to you smile

shysal Sat 24-Sept-16 12:59:36

Were you also GandTea, Pompa?

shysal Sat 24-Sept-16 12:58:31

I twigged who Wobblybits was the first time I saw him mention Mrs P. in a post. I think he has become more cheeky with each name change! grin

NanaandGrampy Sat 24-Sept-16 12:44:55

I love your name Wilma , always makes me smile.

I always use my real name in pms, I don't have any reason not to I guess ,

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 24-Sept-16 12:41:58

I pinched my name from the Terry Wogan show. I prefer to be anonymous, although sometimes I use my real name in PMs.

Wobblybits I didn't realise either you were Pompa. For some reason I think of women having wobbly bits! grin
