No, he wasn't trying to be gallant - he's just addicted to his Smartphone and apps!
Would far rather use those than anything so quaintly old fashioned as sticking a few coins in a machine!
We don't have 'his' and 'mine' money - it's all communal, so it wasn't that.
Still, he is very good on the whole so I am being nice to him again. smile

I keyed in the right digits in the wrong order on a Parking Eye machine and, obviously, got a letter informing me of a charge. I did get out of it by sending them a copy of the receipt which, of course, they had logged. So I am very cautious now when I key in my car registration.

Oh dear, your poor DH. Wasn't he only trying to be gallant? There's not much gallant about so perhaps you should be nice to him. smile

We went out for lunch, took my car since his was in the garage, had to pay to park.
I had a purse full of coins to pay with, which I offered.
No, he insisted on paying with his phone because 'I've got the app - I'm already registered.'

So I stood about while he spent 3 times longer faffing with his phone than it would have taken to stick a few coins in.
Came back 2 1/2 hours later, within paid-for time - or so we thought - to find a traffic warden writing out a ticket.
'But I paid!' said dh, and showed the bloke proof on his screen.
Er...

Well, he WAS registered, only unfortunately he had registered the number plate of HIS car, which was in the garage being fixed, not the number plate of mine.
So we got a ticket. £40 or more, I really don't want to know.

He thinks he will get out of it by an explanatory letter, with proof that his own car was in the garage at the time.
We shall see.
I won't repeat what I said on the way home, though TBH it could have been a lot ruder - all because he insisted on ** apping when coins would not only have been quicker, but saved all this faff.
I expect I'll laugh about it later...
