Anybody else glad it's Autumn?

I love all seasons, each one has its pluses & minuses. Just washed last of my white cropped trousers so now time to time to change my wardrobe over. Love the crisp Autumn days & leaves turning (kicking through fallen leaves never ceases to be a pleasure) Clearing garden for winter.

Winter - love sunny, frosty days, making soups & casseroles & wrapping up warm. Also sleep better, nice cosy quilt to cuddle into, don't mind dark nights but do hate wet/windy weather. Love Christmas.

Look forward to Spring bulbs coming up especially snowdrops showing Spring is on its way. Spring with all the new growth in the garden & days lengthening.

Summer - love being out in shorts etc when weather's nice, garden looking lovely. Just pray weather's not too hot & dread hot, humid nights. All in all I just love (most of) our weather except rain/wind (need some but not too much)

I drove home from the school run today and there were wisps of mist over the fields and now we are sitting with all the curtains drawn and the lights on - cosy!?

Autumn depresses me. All the trees and flowers are dying. Roll on Spring and new life ?

Going for a walk in Petworth park tomorrow, bit early for the rutting season though, but it should be a lovely autumn day.

Aepgirl so pleased to hear someone else sleeps well in hot weather I sleep like a top and never feel overheated in the summer but now winypter is a different story

I don't mind you guys having your Autumn and winter but can we make it equal winter is sooooolong and summer soooooo short

Hate it bring on Spring

The only nice thing about Autumn are the colourful leaves. Having poor circulation I love the warm sunshine and actually sat in the garden for an hour in the sun this afternoon.

I'm in NE Scotland too, Grannybuy and hasn't today been glorious? I'm in the countryside and it's stunning today.

When we lived in the tropics, I found the lack of seasons very disorienting at times. Our climate ranged from about 30-35deg all year round and even at night didn't drop below high twenties. The only marker was the dry/wet season.

I remember moving to a new apartment there and waking up in the early morning very disorientated and worrying about Christmas. In the end I fathomed out that it was April.

In East Anglia we usually get a beautiful Indian Summer around October. Because we had hot weather for so much longer this year I hope we still get our Indian Summer.
I like long Winter sweaters that hide my tummy and wobbly arms and I adore Christmas, but that's about it. Spring and Summer for me - beautiful bulbs blooming and trees coming into leaf and lush green everywhere. Bright, clear Summer colours and long days. Golden fields of mown crops peaking into Harvest Fetival. Love it.

I adore Autumn. I really do not like very hot weather,so the drop in temperature suits me fine. I love the Autumn colours,and the grass turning back to green again,from it's brown,parched 'Summer look'. I much prefer cosy winter clothes. I can't wait to get back into my leggings and a snug jumper!

Yes, love Autumn! The summers in NE Scotland are usually disappointing, though the last two months have been good, surprisingly. Just been sitting in the autumn sun in the rose garden of a park and it smelled wonderful! There is a certain colour to everything on a sunny Autumn day, and, as other posters have said, it feels like a new beginning - more so than 1st January, in some ways.

I have an October birthday, and love the time of year from now until Chr*****s!
Walking in the woods, kicking up leaves, having conker fights, smelling lovely warming casseroles bubbling away in the oven (with the obligatory dumplings), making the cake and pudding for Chr*****s, dark evenings snuggling up with hot choc and a good book, and the best thing of all, getting into a cold bed and feeling it warming up!
This year we're having a fortnight's holiday in October too, even more to look forward to. We're going off to a cottage surrounded by nothing but woodland and wildlife, heavenly!

I dread the thought of Autumn and winter. I love the long, hot summer days, and get so irritated when weather forecasters say 'it will be cooler tonight so much easier to sleep'. I sleep far better on a hot night, and as soon as the weather cools down I keep waking up with cold arms.

I think I should live in a hot climate!

Totally agree about the love of real seasons- marked and different. This is much more so here in the Swiss Jura than it was in the Midlands- as we have warmer Summers and very cold winters.

Some of our older friends moved to Spain when they retired as they were sun worshippers. After a few years- he got out into the garden and the fierce and hot, dry sun- and turned round and said to his wife 'enough - let's go back to proper winters, and 4 seasons' and she cried and told him she had been dying to ask him for a long time but didn't dare.

They flew back 2 days later and put the house in the hands for an agency- luckily they had an old house in the mountains waiting for them.

Autumn and Spring are my favourite times of year. Autumn is so bountiful with all the fruit and produce, and the beautiful Autumn light. Spring is full of new energy and vibrant green shoots. Summer is ok if it is a good one (which for us this year it has been) but it is the constant change of season I love about this country. I even enjoy the thought of chilly days in front of the log burner when I can sit and knit or read and not feel guilty I should be out in the garden.

This is only my second reply to a post! I loathe summer: the clothes, the heat, perspiration, BBQS, flies, wasps...Autumn is a lovely season, as is Spring. Even winter is preferable to summer!

Oh it is so sad for me to accept, we have bad weather for probable 10 months a year and I dont want it back. Today I put some jeans on and my body was shouting NOOOO I want sunshine, blue skies and warmth on my body I want my shorts and flip flops back I cant wait another 10 months going through freezing winds, driving rain, floods, maybe snow, cold fingers and toes, shivers down my spine.

Love the summer except that really hot weather but I also love the Autumn going to hang to on summer clothes for a bit longer if I can. Have some lightweight trousers to get me through the early autumn days anyway with a cardi and cotton long sleeve t's oops hang on to

I love autumn with a passion - fresh air, golden sunshine, long shadows in the late afternoon, the smell of burning leaves, lamplight in windows, wearing a jacket and 'proper' clothes instead of crumpled linen, being able to sleep at night, and the thought that hot sweaty crowded June, July and August are over for another nine months.

Being an autumn baby I really love this time of year. There is a particular shade to the blue of an autumn sky that is so - for want of a better word - BLUE, in contrast to the loveliness of the just-turning leaves that makes my heart smile. The garden is slowing right down so I can curl up with a book without feeling guilty. It'll soon be time for our first log fire, and I can start making casseroles in my slow cooker that scent the house with yumminess.

Actually the only time I don't like is January/February, as spring still seems so far off. And I have really enjoyed the beautiful summer when we've been able to sit out in the garden until late just enjoying the lingering warmth.
