Blimey. It's just as well we didn't have freezer insurance when my DH helpfully unplugged ours as we set off on holiday last year. We came back to a horrible gloopy mess that I could smell as we walked in the door, lid on though it was! It was bad enough having to shovel it all out into a bin, costing it all out would have been impossible.

It seems worse if you cooked it yourself doesn't it? When it happened to me and I tried to claim on the insurance they wanted every ingredients red and priced. I had just filled the freezer with chillis, lasagne and curries and while I might have been able to work out the cost of meat, onions, tomatoes etc they wanted receipts!

I gave up and started again.

Nice trip to the tip today to dispose of food from freezer which decided to defrost itself yesterday. Luckily DH managed to cram squeeze into the outside freezer most of the meat and some stuff we'd batch cooked. A lot went out though, but it's shocking surprising how long some of the stuff had been in there blush. 3 year old home made carrot soup anyone? AND the repairmen can't come out till Monday. So no fridge or freezer till then. Good job the weathers changed then (lashing rain today).
