A Warning

Hello All, I just wanted to warn everyone that if they are thinking of ordering a book online I woiuld strongly advise not to touch a company called WORDERY. I ordered a book from then on 3rd September, giving plenty of time for it to arrive as it was for a Birthday present. To cut a long story short there is no way you can telephone these people, only contact is by e mail or through Amazon. The responses I have from them are appalling and beyond belief, for example telling me there are plenty of other sellers on Amazon and if i wanted a faster delivery I should have gone elsewhere!, then they tell me they will not give a refund until I return the item, the whole point of me contacting them was because I never have received it!I have had to contact amazon who agree that I should have received item by now, they say I have done the right thing in contacting the seller first, but they have now filed a case against the seller on my behalf, will let you know how this pans out, thank goodness it was only a book mand not something which cost alot more money angry

Ana so sorry if that upset you. I didn't mean to.

Pax

It is not in my opinion - though it obviously is in yours Anya - pointless to comment on someone trying to close down the comments of others. Your replies may be seen as pointless to some of course as you never actually addressed my original comment.

Yes, I do have other (better? - I am not so unkind to think GNetters are worth less than others) things to do and I am just off, as I was yesterday, to my 96 year old mothers. As she has Alzheimer's she takes up quite a bit of my time. I do not say this for sympathy but merely to answer your question. Age, sadly does not necessarily bring wisdom - I can see at least one obvious example of that on a daily basis.

I am not stressed but I do not enjoy watching an attempt to try to limit the comments of others posters. That is almost certainly my problem rather than yours; after all, you could just ignore my posts. Maybe you are just one of those people who generally use exaggerated language - I have no idea. I can only go by how it reads.

Thank you for your concerns but with a lovely family and friends around I find life just needs a small input from GN to give me a different angle on the world - and it doessmile. Perhaps I am just a faster typist than you as the few posts on here really don't take much of my time.

Good heavens all I did was post about poor service so that others could be aware of it. Big arguments follow, also lots of advice about how to buy on Amazon or Ebay. I buy frequently using both and 99percent of the time it is just fine and dandy. reading the posts again it seems to me that some of the posters on here have issues with each other that seem to go a long way back. I don't understand all this nit picking and bitchyness. Treat a forum as in real life, if people irritate or annoy you then keep away from them. I have a feeling though that some of the more " bullying" posts on here are just that, posted by people who would not stand up for themselves in everyday life, but hiding behind their screens is another matter!

Anya Thu 15-Sept-16 09:21:07

Gracesnan don't you have anything better to do on GN that follow me around trying to make a point of something completely pointless?

Listen to those older and wiser posters who have tried to explain this to you and then go and sit down with a nice brew and try not to stress.

A lot of stuff on Amazon is sold by others, under the Amazon umbrella. Amazon set standards, but it is up to the sellers to fulfill their orders, and so on. There are bad eggs in all baskets, and also sellers who are normally OK can have an off day - but they should be doing all they can to put things right.

Perhaps a refund wasn't exactly the technical term to use for something that hadn't arrived. Their returns department are probably geared to issuing a refund on returned goods once they have received them back, not on non-delivered items. They will have to show the paperwork to justify paying out money - or they might be suspected of fiddling the books.

Anya, sorry I spoke... hmm

Jalima Wed 14-Sept-16 22:00:12

Flipping heck, a storm in a brew

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 21:57:17

Anya you had to carry on didn't you. So, are you still saying that you "hate" people putting their positive experience of dealing with a company when someone else has published a very negative one. If you are I still think trying to close down discussion is not what forums are about and is rather bullying - but that is no surprise is it.

I am not going to change my point of view on freedom of speech just to appease you so this is my last post on the subject.

Jbf I am happy to reply if you give me some idea what made you think that.

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 21:49:48

I buy quite a few secondhand books on Amazon, from a variety of companies, I look at their feedback rating and choose the highest for the book I want. so far I've been lucky. Amazon seems cheaper than eBay most of the time.

Jalima Wed 14-Sept-16 21:35:11

That's interesting.

I have ordered things from Amazon recently (not books, although DH ordered some, not expensive and delivered promptly); ordered online at about 9pm one evening and they were delivered at about 12 noon the next day. One parcel ordered on Saturday night came at lunch-time on the Sunday. That wasn't Prime either (don't use it).

Anya Wed 14-Sept-16 21:33:28

Ana shock what a porky pie!

durhamjen Wed 14-Sept-16 21:30:47

llrina, I use a company called Hive, www.hive.co.uk to buy books.
If you spend more than £10 it's postfree, and usually comes within two days. I've never had to wait for a week yet (crossing fingers on my left hand as I ordered from them today).
Their prices are reasonable, often cheaper than Amazon, and they give a percentage to your local bookshop.

Ana Wed 14-Sept-16 21:27:07

Jalima! grin

So do I.

Jalima Wed 14-Sept-16 21:25:07

I hate it when people argue on here

Anya Wed 14-Sept-16 21:18:58

Thanks Wobbly.

Yea gods! Some people grin

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 20:25:09

As I said GG I do not intend to argue with you.

So I agree with everything you have said, you are right and I do talk a load of nonsense.

flowers

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 20:19:43

I had Wobbly. I know you may feel you are impossible to forget but it was only when I saw you referring to your wife on the stair lift thread that I remembered and this nonsense all made sense.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 20:15:38

What makes you think that Jingl

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 20:03:09

GG, I'm sure you are very aware of who I am, no need to dramatise by saying you had forgotten.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 19:57:07

I, on the other hand, have never heard of 'em.

Ilrina Wed 14-Sept-16 19:57:04

Good heavens what alot of bitchiness I see on here

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 19:56:33

You are very fond of Wordery, aren't you gracesgran? sad

Elegran Wed 14-Sept-16 19:41:46

.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 19:38:36

So, you think that, when someone complains about a firm and then a couple of other people comment on their own experience being good with the same company it is reasonable on an open forum for another member to want to sensor such balancing comments, so much so that they declare they 'hate' them, an argument is being caused by one of the people who put their own point of view forward?

Most people would want to defend free speech Wobblybits but it takes all sorts and your logic is fascinating. Oh … I have just remembered who you actually are. This silliness now makes a lot of sense.

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 18:49:09

Gracesgran, yes. if you mean supporting a poster that is being criticised for no good reason, most of understood what she meant, sounds like you are just looking to start an argument. and it won't be with me.
