Anya I hope your DH is back by now and you've managed to get your drinks sorted brew smile

DH's gone to pick GSs up from school as I can't drive yet. He left 30 minutes ago. I tried to make myself a cup of tea, but will have to have it black as I can't unscrew the top of the milk

Thought I'd have some squash instead, Can't unscrew that top either hmm

I think part of the problem is that nowadays the ring pull snaps off too easily, a manufacturing fault of the can rather than the gizmo we try to use. This always happens to me when opening Asda tinned tomatoes.

Chicken You could try turning the can upside down and using a conventional opener smile

I bought one of those Lakeland gizmos a couple of years ago and just cannot get it to work. I've broken fingernails, gouged out lumps of skin and sworn at it, all to no avail grin

I've just tried to open one of these ring-pull cans with the Lakeland gizmo as my poor old arthritic fingers can't do it any other way, and the ring shot off with the speed of a bullet, clipped my swollen joint en route and hit the window before vanishing into the great unknown. I then tried, with throbbing finger, to use the electric can opener, but it just sneered at the unconventional rim, so OH attacked the can with a screwdriver and I finally got at the prunes! Oh for the old style cans. At least I then had the measure of the enemy.
