Something I haven't done for years...

I love a bath, I never feel properly clean with only a shower.

I know how you feel Anya. The first bath I had, three weeks after breaking my leg, was heavenly even though it was practically an industrial manoevre to get me in and out without getting my leg wet.

I loved the bath in my old house, chosen by me for its depth and length, with taps on the side within easy reach.
The bath in the new house is a funny shape and narrow! A bit coffin like IMO! But, the rain shower is fantastic, involves putting on a shower cap or washing my hair.

Unfortunately the bathroom is quite new, so I can't justify replacing it!

I'm not all that old, just have stiff joints and currently a knee injury on top of osteoarthritis. The bath in our flat is much deeper and more awkward to get into compared to the one in our old house. I spent many happy hours in that one. Sigh. It was a plastic one and seemed to be higher off the ground than this one so much easier to get into.

How old are you all, that you find it hard to get out of a bath Or do you all have extremely high sided baths?#

I have a bath every day, followed by a quick shower-off.

I love my bath, it's my weekly Sunday evening treat. Showers the rest of the week.

Oooooohhhhhh!! I long for a bath! Only got a shower and don't like them. The room has to be very warm to enjoy a shower and even then, it's not the same as having a good soak

Certainly Pollen I won't say a word ( alhough the panda thing is baffling....is that spy speak like 'the wild geese are flying south for the Winter' stuff?)

Desperate for a nice soaky bath after four weeks having showers only. Managed, all by myself, by getting in, kneeling on one leg then slowly getting into sitting position.

Used a variation of your 'roll over' Jane to get out, by getting onto knees facing away from taps and then using cast of left arm to help lever myself on feet.

And yes, it was worth it.

No baths for me - would have too much trouble getting out, so not worth the effort.

I've got a bath with handles and also a bar on the wall. Not much use to me as they are not located to fit my centre of gravity. I have to do the roll over and all fours stunt. Hurts more than knees did when I got in. Probably not very safe either. Och!

I wish we had bought a bath with handles. I am finding it a bit difficult to get out of the bath these days. Has anyone had a handle fixed to the wall?

I love my early morning soak in the bath with a book, once literally, when I dropped a library book into the water. 'Came clean' and paid up! I dread the time when I am unable to get in and out . Due to a shoulder injury and Polymyalgia I currently have to do this by getting on all fours, not exactly elegant, glad there is nobody here to see but me!

On Thursday I did something I hadn't done for years. Borrowed DD's Vax and shampooed my carpets. The water came out the colour of black coffee!! The floor looks much better but with cats and their little nightly 'gifts' it already has some more marks.

Yes it's the blow drying that's the problem - I now have 3 different hair dryers for various purposes.
The basic one for just getting hair dry in a hurry, a styler thing for controlling it and pointing it in the right direction when it was short, and a rotating brush for when it's longer.
I also still have some electric heated rollers from the late 60's but it's some time since they had an outing
I'm now back to a mid-length bob. Chin-length at the front and slightly shorter and a bit layered at the back.

Love my bath, a long relaxing soak. As for my hair. I cannot remember what it looked like 10 years ago . Actually it has been a variant of fringe and very short to shortish to shoulder length for the last 40 years. Straight hair and a natural fringe (whether I want it or not) doesn't allow for much variation.

I haven't had a bath for ever I can't remember the last time I had one, i I shower every morning and love my shower but the other evening with nothing on TV I thought I d have a lovely relaxing bath well I didn't enjoy it at all it was too hot, not hot enough took too long to run wasn't deep enough then too deep, then had to clean it ...no thanks I ll stick to my shower

I got a new hairstyle today too ...??

I only ever run the bath for the grand-girlies these days but whilst I'm doing it I always promise myself a soak when they've gone - it never happens...

I hate showers, love my bath, and try to get in a 7pm for my little bit of peace listening to the Archers

rosesarered MI5 are looking for me, so I can't divulge this information. I learned how to say Och when the Chinese delivered the Pandas to Edinburgh Zoo. Please keep it quiet between you and me .

janea I had my hair cut differently today too. I hope it still looks OK when I have to blow dry it. If not, it'll take me ages to grow it back to one length.

I always have a bath - I find it relaxing - and only have showers in hotels if there is no bath.

No not anymore the thought of trying to get out puts me off.

Haven't had a bath for about 15 years ( although I must be needing one by now)
