I hate ironing. Remember teaching the boys as teenagers and them getting angry that I insisted. I didn't care if they went out crumpled with their girlfriends!!!
Now son is in the military, we are with him from time to time, he says my ironing skills are not good enough!!!! Suits me, still hate ironing.

I too have a very nice ironing man. He doesn't charge me either. and makes a far better job of it than I ever would.

I have a very nice man than does all my ironing in fact he spent all day today ironing even though it was 25 degrees in our garden.

I have a Philips steam generator and it is great - getting quite old now in techie terms - about 8 years but it is much better than my first one which I had about 18 years ago. Make sure you can get the water tank out to refill it - my first one had a valve which was also the stopper to refill it - meant the machine needed to cool a bit before you could release the valve and refill. They definitely make ironing easier and do a good job quite easily.
I did try an ironing press but could not get on with it - it was just not for me - I think I am too short as I got a terrible back ache when I used it. Bought it from Argos so could take it back within two weeks.

suzied I've been looking at those generator irons but have no idea which one to go for. What make is yours? Anything to make ironing (almost) fun must be worth a try.

I am with you Anya on ironing. I occasionally iron a couple of shirts for DH and then he owes me BIG TIME.

Gives me a chance to watch all those TV programmes my OH won't watch ( Supervet, Long Lost Family etc).

I've got one of those steam generator irons and wish I'd had it years ago. It makes ironing (almost) fun.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind ironing? I do my own and my daughter's. I'm not not a domestic goddess, I hate housework and only do what I can get away with but I really don't mind ironing.

I want to know why "sods law" applies to ironing, there is more of it in the summer when you are already hot and bothered, but much less in the winter when it wouldn't be so bad to be slaving away with a hot iron. I don't do teatowels, bedding, underwear or anything I can get away with. The list of not doing has increased over the years when I see what my DDs don't iron

Danni I hate ironing so much that I never iron anything bigger than a tea towel and they fit in the drawer neatly when ironed . Anything bigger goes to some fantastic women who run Crease Relief. I love them even though I don't know them.

I never iron anything. Literally!

Most creases come out in the tumble dryer, I find, and I've never ironed a tea towel in my life.

I iron about 5 items a year. Literally.
I always have Hotpoint washing machines which seem to cut down on creases a lot. I am careful how I hang items in the airing cupboard, and all other creases are ignored.

Oh yes ninathenana, how I hate ironing trousers too. I have some chinos with seams that are completely skewed and I bought 3 pairs. I've run out of swear words when ironing them. Good idea for duvet covers Anya

Put the duvet cover on the duvet then run a hot hairdryer over it.

And, yes I do iron 'em.

Although second thoughts, It probably applies to just about any household task.

Not sure whether it applies to ironing but what about;
