I haven't had it measured since I came out of hospital when it was only 75degrees. I don't see the physio until Sept 12. That is the one area that I have not been happy about in the whole scenario. The physio did very little. A leaflet with home exercises on it and she didn't even go through it with us.

NanaandGrampy I've been wondering how things are with your daughter. I'm relieved to catch up with the latest bulletin. All manner of worrying thoughts have been playing on my mind. The reason being - I was in hospital for eight days with a Strep grade A infection. I nicked my thumb on a rusty bolt. Three days later, on a Sunday evening, the doctor who looked at the thumb sent me to Oban hospital. By which time, the infection was almost up to my arm pit. I'm allergic to Penicillin (and the micro biologists had to come up with a suitable cocktail of drugs to fight the infection). I was on a drip for five days. Poor MacSporran feared I might not recover. It was one of the scariest weeks of my life. However, all ended happily. I am thrilled to learn that your daughter enjoyed "the best breakfast ever"...I remember asking for a double portion of rice pudding when I started to feel so much better.

Ours is a local taxi service. I don't think they have any non Asian drivers which is odd as our area is predominantly white. They are excellent on the whole and very helpful. For some reason they expect me when on my own always to get in the front seat and the first one this morning was pushing the seat back as he watched me walk down the drive.
I have to say I am now k.......d and lying down.

ann that is excellent and also quite difficult to do as you have not been out for ages.

I do hope that you did not crawl into the back of the cab and you were able to sit in the front seat. That is what I organise for myself if for some reason I cannot drive somewhere. If they do not like it, tough but to date nobody has objected.

You are doing so well and I am well aware that you did not think that half of this would happen!

I don't want to bore you all but I am so pleased with myself today.
I had to go to my bank as I don't do Internet banking and my H can't "do money".
I got a taxi, went to the bank, sorted a few things like transfers, then walked along to the chemist and picked up a prescription the GP had faxed them and got a taxi back. I felt I am getting my life back after several difficult months. I am so hopeful for the future which I didn't think I would get back.
I hope I can give some hope to others still waiting.
Independence is so important to ones well being.

That is a very big relief for you both N&G. your DD must have been very, very hungry if that was the best breakfast ever! 6am is a tad soon I think- at this rate it will lunch at 10am.

She should know what type of infection caused it- I am suspecting group A Streptococcus. Luckily she had the presence of mind to do something sooner rather than later.

You can now enjoy the sunshine without too much worry.

This is a day to start chivvying up your latest estate agent. He has not done very much has he? I would be ringing him daily to find out if he is sending anybody round to look at your property. If you get on his wick long enough he may do something about it if only to get rid of you and get his commission.

Just a quick popin as we have a busy day.

My daughter is awake , in a little pain but much less than expected and I can report back that she was served an NHS breakfast that was ( and I quote) the best breakfast EVER ...even if it did arrive at 6am Could be to do with having nothing to eat for 36 hours

She waiting to see the consultant as she doesn't know yet what was done as she is heavily bandaged , then hopefully she'll be discharged.

A bad back effects everything you do Corner so hope you feel better tomorrow.

My daughter had her surgery and has just enjoyed her first cuppa and biscuit in 24 hrs + hrs. She'll be in tonight at least and dependent on her level of infection for another day or so.

My SIL bought the 2 grandkids over for a few hours so we could distract them . So we can all get a decent nights sleep now thank goodness. Who would have thought all this over something so tiny?

Sorry to hear about your back pain cornergran. The rain dance could easily have set it off although you would have felt more free dancing down the street naked. Hopefully a night's sleep will help.

All good wishes to your DD nanaandgrampy - the nightmare of being poorly at a Bank Holiday may not have helped but it us at times like these that we are grateful for a 24/7 NHS. I hope by the time I log on tomorrow that you have some reassuring news.
annsixty my sincere condolences- what a totally dreadful thing to happen. There are no words, really.
SIL left after lunch and it has been so nice having an afternoon with DD and Flynn. We took him for a walk of course which he started off NOT enjoying, but eventually dropped off so that "killed" dealt with 45 minutes of his grizzly pre-bath time period. Now he is sweet smelling and irresistible and I hope DD gets him down easily so that she can relax too.

One thing after the other for your daughter n&g, do hope it's sorted soon, definitely in the right place and what a good job she went to hospital when she did. Don't these adult children have the capacity to worry us?

Pleased there is good, strong family support ann, nothing can take the tragedy away but a sensible head can only help.

Struggling with back pain this evening, so decidedly grumpy, not major in comparison to others issues but it's a mystery what I've done to trigger it. Unless it was that rain dance

ann although desperately sad, at least something is happening and he will be flown home asap. I do hope that he was insured.

N&G The one good thing about a microbiologist seeing your DD is that he/she will be able to give her the correct antibiotic and hopefully this will not develop into necrotising fasciitis. It looks nasty and it is worrying if the infection is still spreading but it is being closely monitored.

That is a long time in this hot weather to be without fluids. With luck we will hear more positive news tomorrow.

annsixty Having support from family at such a distressing time, is a blessing. I cannot imagine how I would deal with the untimely death of one my boys. Thank goodness for the "sensible uncle".

NanaandGrampy I'm logging off now. Visit to the care home in the morning. I hope that when I next visit the kitchen, your daughter will be recovering from surgery. I shall be thinking of you.

Thank you all. The Chinese whispers sorted now, he was in Budapest and had been touring for 4 weeks. His family are all over there now including a very sensible uncle of his mother who can deal with the necessary paperwork etc to take the pressure off of his parents

NanaandGrampy I'm sorry to hear the latest news regarding your daughter's nasty infection. She is most definitely in the right place where her condition can be closely monitored. I can well understand how anxious you must be feeling. I'm hoping that she will have surgery very soon. After which, she will be very likely be given intravenous fluids.

My poor daughter is still in hospital waiting for surgery. They think she's allergic to the antibiotics now as she's all itchy. So they've sent for a Bacteriologist to see if they can work out what's happening before the cut it and unleash whatever's causing the problem.

She's been 24 hrs without food now and 12 without water so I hope they make decision soon as the infection is slowly creeping further up and down her thigh :-(

Daphne how old is master Flynn now? He always looks so alert to me and interested in what is going on around him. I hope if that photo was taken at your house that the entrance to that room was not blocked for Grace- it is her house- he is an intruder.

If he was not so much work day and night I may be tempted to cradle snatch!!! Grace would come too.
