I left my shed behind in the garden of the last house. It was lovely, half greenhouse half shed, with light and heat.
The GCs would play with sand in the potting tray when it was too cold outside.

I'm going to have a new one, more like a summerhouse for a change. I might get a cold frame to put on the side.

DH and I are treating ourselves to a very posh shed- its got windows and doors and is therefore now called a 'summerhouse'. It will have electricity and I envisage escaping to comfy chairs and quiet ( but he's keen on accessing music in there). I want to enjoy the garden without getting too cold, and intend to move our telescope out there ( rarely used, too cold for me in winter). I think we will be having drinkies too.

I WANT a huge shed. New. But I'd only fill it with stuff....

DS2's family have acquired a building which they describe as 'the cabin'. It's a huge shed which now houses the boys' X-box (plus gaming bean-bags) two futons (for sleepovers!) and a pool table (not full size, but big enough), which can be converted to a table tennis table. I think it could be described as a man-and-boy cave!

Sadly it's an immutable law that c***p expands to fill the space available, be that house, roof, sheds, patio, garden, whatever. I'm not very good at dec***ping, too indecisive. Just waiting for the last hen to pass on to see what he manages to store in the hen-house.

They seem to pop up all over our grounds to house tractors, tools,workshop,lawn mowers, rotavators, chain saws etcc plus spare parts. Am still waiting for my summer kitchen, winter sheltered coffee lounge and compostable loo near the pool, shelter for pool loungers. Am left with defunct dishwasher to store jam jars in the barn with deep freeze, bats, cats, and huge pile of stuff for recycling. Old fridge outside to store garden table cloths. And chest for garden seat cushions. Might get my needs seen to during the next 10 years.

Nannienet, it is interesting you have identified a beach huts as a sort of shed as I was thinking along the same lines. Walking along Lyme Regis front yesterday I nosily peered into the open beach huts to find cosy homes from home with chairs, tables, shelves, larders, coolboxes, jaunty curtains and coastal themed decorations, beach equipment, kettles, barbecues and everything seaside related. The 'shed space' spilled over onto the beach where families had designated 'house space" with gazebos, rugs and an extension of the shed contents. I remarked to my husband that the next thing we would see on the beach is a sofa.

It's all packed away at the end of the day back into the sheds. Very jolly.

I have turned my shed into a privy. I was so fed up with having to go back to the house, take off dirty boots, gloves etc every time I needed the loo, that I found a local plumber who installed a fully flushing loo in my shed. And very useful it has been too.

I have the tumbledryer and a spare refrigerator in one shed....plus lots of "Stuff"....goodness knows what's in the pile
of "Stuff"!! Anyone fancy a weekend of
sorting "Stuff" ??

The man opposite has a container for a shed. Not a good look for those of us who have to see it from our front windows

We have a shed that contains 150 canaries, sadly most of their seed , feathers appear to be in my kitchen on a widening tide as they start to moult. Am seriously considering a time lock on it which will release DH for meals etc. He also has a garage which does contain the car but also boxes by the score all full of useful items which should there ever be a nuclear war no doubt will ensure he survives it all!

At the moment I have a "trendy "chair obsession. Have sprightled up the kitchen with the addition of 2 orange "Danish"style dining chairs. Now I would like 2 teal ones, 2 pink ones and 2 transparent ones - I could ring the colour changes! But where to keep them when they are not the chosen colour? I know - a new shed. The current one being full of lawn mowers, tins of paint and other DH obsessions, why can't I have a chair shed ? DH says I'm mad. Will cost a fortune he says " a new shed, for as yet unbought, and totally unnecessary chairs"? The man has no soul!

We've got three wooden sheds and a plastic one. One of the wooden sheds is my garden shed, the other three sheds are full of Mr C's important stuff. One shed out of the four is tidy. No prizes for guessing which one . They are all ordinary sheds though, even if painted a nice colour.

I like Shed of the Year but it is a bit strange when they have an upstairs.

l,m goimg to replace my wooden shed with a larger plastic shed.my wooden shed was bought to house my scooter but my great grandchildren have taken it over with bikes ball pits footballs etc.When they come l have to take my scooter out to give them room to play.

We hire a Beach Hut close by on the coast,they are only as big as a shed but it's like being on holiday. I make it seem like home from home with all the things we as an extended family could need. Stove to make tea/coffee,high chair,toys,buckets and spades,chairs,washing up facilities. Sometimes I've sat there on my own once everyone has gone home,cuppa in hand,all tidy again,lush!!!!! The weather in the last three weeks has made it even better!

We inherited a shed that had been used as an office by the previous owners. It was insulated, with lights and sockets. I decorated it every year with a different theme, eg. a beach hut, a Moroccan den, a craft room with Cath kidston and Laura Ashley decor, you name it really. My grandchildren loved playing in it too as it was like a little house. Anyway, I had to have it knocked down recently due to a damp floor but I'm currently expecting my new log cabin to be delivered and look forward to playing with my new "summerhouse".

Spaces always fill themselves, I've found. Not to mention table tops!

I've got an old brick potting shed which used to be derelict but we had it repaired, cleared out, electricity put in---Hooray,I thought, at last somewhere to be my space,somewhere to declutter my home, somewhere to store all the things that are only needed now and then. Dream on!! DD moved in with family and now it's packed solid with all THEIR unused stuff so that their bit of the house is minimalist.
