the last two days here down south have been unbearable, Ive been keeping up with my fluid intake and was up 4 times last night grrrrrr. today has been a tad cooler with a welcoming breeze which has now dropped off and its feeling quite humid. There just doesnt seem to be a happy medium with this british weather.

Run cold water tap overyour wrists.I think it cools the blood as it goes round your body.

I have one of those floor standing Dyson fans without blades, it is so quiet you can sleep with it on.

I am NOT enjoying this hot weather!!

Bedtime Tip:

Put a frozen picnic ice pack in a plastic box
Put a wet flannel on top of ice pack
Put beside bed
When you get hot in night apply ice cold flannel to face and body - not forgetting back of neck

I hope this helps

I'm so pleased its not just me - I can't deal with this heat at all. I like it to be pleasantly warm and sunny but trying to work and sleep in this heatwave is impossible. Fickle lot aren't we grin

I know I sound grumpy, and I am.. but I did, at least, put my huffing and puffing to one side today to bath oldest dog. He was looking so.... like me! (grumpy and out of sorts) so I thought he may be more comfortable if all oil washed out of his coat. So, kick the watering can and everyone else, but my little (big smelly) treasure got a nice cool bath and shower. Every time I open the freezer I waft the cold air towards me. Bliss! I promise I won't moan about the cold weather! I love spring and autumn.

Thank you :-)) Mina :-)

Definitely not so sultry here in North Devon today, sunny but with a slight breeze. Yesterday at work, with my office being up under the eaves in a converted barn it was almost unbearable!

The elderly dog insists on being in the office with me and was huffing and puffing like a train. I took the younger one down for a swim in the lake at lunchtime, the old boy came as far as the orchard, lay down in the shade and refused to come any further. I rather hoped that he would at least have a bit of a paddle to cool down, I was worried he might have a stroke or heart attack.

Madam had a great time, in and out of the water retrieving her stick and trying (unsuccessfully) to get the Canada geese to play!

I'm not a heat lover and I've just done a basket of ironing. Feeling quite faint. Ice cream would be good.

Think it's the only time I like my dogs shaking water onto me! I wonder if the energy saved from tumble driers, is more cost effective than my fan going full pelt all night! We are off on holiday (all 8) on Friday and I am taking my fan! I don't care if it won't fit in the car! It's coming with me!

I had an accident with a hose pipe in the utility room earlier today. Me and the room got soaked. It was bliss. I was dry within 10 minutes. I think the storm clouds are gathering though...

breeze I am just the same, hate the sun & heat, autumn & winter are my favourite seasons. I have spent most of the last couple of days indoors with a fan going full pelt. Yes I know the theory about energy and fans but it makes me feel better.
Had visitors on and off for the last few weeks so washing & ironing piling up and I'm trying not to look at it.
Do feel selfish moaning about it when everyone else enjoys it.

I don't like it either Mina and haven't since I was about 12 ! (notorious fainter!) So I'm consistent I suppose, and never complain about the cold. Everyone knows to bring a cardigan to my house! Annoyingly, OH loves it, so we're not on the same page. Difficult. I kicked my watering can up the garden the other day and shout at people. I do try not to but I get so hot!

Mina Wed 20-Jul-16 16:44:31

Nanaandgrampy that is genius

Mina Wed 20-Jul-16 16:43:55

Oh I actually love the sound of that!

obieone Wed 20-Jul-16 16:42:41

I read somewhere to keep a spare bedsheet in the freezer. No thanks!

merlotgran Wed 20-Jul-16 16:37:37

I've been sitting indoors since Monday and I've still managed to get a sun tan!!

NanaandGrampy Wed 20-Jul-16 16:35:55

If you have a steel or metal bowl, fill with ice, stand bowl in front of fan with breeze sweeping across ice.... Air conditioning smile

Mina Wed 20-Jul-16 16:26:27

But I am aware I have complained about the cold and rain for months so perhaps I should be careful what I wish for.

Saw this on Facebook and it made me laugh
