Just heard on the radio that an 85 year old woman beat off a would be robber with a packet of bacon grin Apparently a woman demanded the 85 year old to hand over the money she had just taken out of the cashpoint at which point the elderly lady hit her over the head with the bacon. I can only hope it was frozen! grin

Fantastic.

I lived near to an elderly lady who could only walk slowly and with difficulty using a Zimmer frame. One evening a youth barged his way into her bungalow. She leapt out of her chair and beat him up with her walking stick. She hit him and hit him until he ran out of her home. Then she phoned the police who found, and arrested, the youth at a and e where he was being treated for cuts, bruises and a broken arm.

She said she didn't know how she got out of the chair and kept moving but was so angry that the youth had dared to enter her home that she didn't think she just acted on instinct.

I recall when I was in my 20s hearing about someone who tried to mug a local elderly man as he came out of a fish and chip shop. The mugger demanded the old man gave him what he had, the old man handed him his supper and then knocked him out cold. Apparently he had been a professional boxer in his youth!

My dad took on a neighbour wielding a machete and won. He got a bravery award from the town Mayor, aged 72 years old. Very proud. smile

Just read a report where a group of travellers tried to get onto a village green and the local councillors made up of "mostly retired ladies" formed a human barricade to stop them. Apparently the travellers had camped on the green 2 years ago and left the council with a £2,000 bill to clean up the mess plus the scout hut couldn't be used because of "human faeces". There was a 40 minute standoff with some of the ladies, and some men, sitting down in front of the vehicles before the police arrived and the travellers moved off.
