Will the commencement of WW3 be announced on GN ?

I suppose making light of such things seems trivial, but at the end of the day, there would be no other way to approach such a prospect. When DH was in the Army we were stationed at a large NATO base in the south of Holland. They would periodically go off on exercises to somewhere called The Bunker in Southern Germany. One day they were "scrambled" at very short notice, in the early hours, and off he went with his tin hat (and half a ton of other stuff, including a side arm). Oh, okay then. No time for the niceties. He came back around three weeks later and I said to him "I didn't know there were any exercises pending". He just gave me a look, a big, big hug and said "don't ask". It was much later that I found out it wasn't an exercise, it was a stand off on the Polish border. It shook me, I will admit. I had a friend who was at Rheindahlen garrison with her DH and she told me they ran an exercise at one point to see how quickly - or if - they could evacuate families from BAOR in the event of it all kicking off. I seem to remember the outcome wasn't encouraging. There was only one military threat then - there seem to be many more now. Sorry for the aside.

There would be no mains electricity, no phones, no internet, no clean water. Using bottled gas in a bunker could be lethal.

Wind up Radio x 2 (so essential that a spare is important)
Lots of books
Chemical Toilet
Warm clothes
Blankets
Sleeping bag
Mattress
Comfy chair

BUT, and a big but for me, Mrs.P would never go into a bunker (claustrophobic), so I will have all those things indoors and join her under the kitchen table. (must get a kitchen table)

I don't know if I would head off to a bunker. Would WW3 be worth surviving? Sorry. Feeling negative today. Sigh... (wanders off shaking head but hoping others are full of beans)

A bible and a book of Matt cartoons.

Presumably DH would be off squirting his fountain pen at the enemy, but if not, it goes without saying that he would head up the list.
