soop I did not appreciate how close the road was to your front garden. I quite agree with MacSporran he did the correct thing because Rory would amble across the road at his pace, even like Tara stopping to have a lick or scratch.I am surprised that he has found the energy to walk so far!!! I am aware of his usual "resting" places.

I have just had a pleasant lunch out with a friend but a little girl was in melt down and was not removed from the scene until I would think everybody was muttering under their breath or louder in my case. She was only around 2 and a 1/2 and before that she was running up and down like a lunatic. I could not hear myself think. Give me a cat or dog any day.

Another humid day here- when will it ever end?

Galen you need to wait for Lona to come into the kitchen. Lona is the Queen of lemon drizzle. I expect she's a bit busy enjoying her new home.

I went out this morning and realised that I was wearing a top that had tea stains dribbled down the front. I took off the top and wore it back to front. I looked a right mess. Porage is my number one dribbled substance. Dollops of it escape from my spoon without a moment's warning.

oldgoat Ouch! That burn of yours sounds nasty. It's the right thing to do...cold running water also takes away some of the pain. My late Nana used butter on burns. A NO-NO!

It is a little cooler here this morning but the sky is still blue so all is well in my world !!

Galen I am looking forward to hearing how the cake making has gone? Would it not have been better to pop to M & S and buy one ? I am a rubbish cake maker but pastry is my forte so I can whip up a pie for you if that helps !

Number I'm sorry to say I laughed at your post !! You sound like Grampy who could sleep on a knife edge ! I think you need to start putting your cup down between sips to save on the laundry

Daphne Glad to hear all went well with your doggy visitors but I know what you mean about dogs screaming. When Sam hurt his back earlier this year just the act of moving could set him off and it was heart stopping .

To all who are being a bit accident prone.... the solution is to hand your chores over to others !!!!! You are all banned from ironing and hot water and such and don't even think about secateurs or chopping wood !!!

Today is a day for painting walls and tackling the grandchildren's room which needs to be made show worthy ...that might take some doing !

Too many Kitcheners seem to be in the wars these days! I don't think that was what he had in mind!! I am forever ironing my hands or catching them on an oven shelf. Straight to the cold water tap usually deals with the pain, but the scars .......
Visiting cousin dog has gone home and Grace again has her rug all to herself. I thought she showed amazing forbearance however, the only worry was when she decided Dylan dog could not lie unsupervised under the table during lunch and she opted to lie on the patio next to us to keep an eye on things. The back legs are not very good at the getting up from a hard surface and there was nearly a painful moment. Anybody with a hound will know that they do not merely Yelp if something hurts, they scream in the most blood curdling manner.
Thank goodness it has cooled down a bit, I know it is churlish to moan about heat in July, but DH really does not cope with it and I am not much better!

numberplease are you suffering from sleep apnoea? I think a trip to see your GP would be in order before you do any more damage to yourself, clothes and furniture.

Hope your burnt thumb will be better soon soop. Iron burns go on hurting every time you put them in hot water,don't they?
I had a nasty experience with a hot iron once, rushing to iron a garment to wear to work and wearing only my underwear. The edge of the iron ran right across my stomach which was hanging over the ironing board. I rushed to the upright freezer and pressed the seering flesh against one of the shelves which took some of the heat out but was left with a nasty burn.

My accidents this week have been of the fall asleep and spill drink variety. On Thursday morning I fell asleep holding my breakfast coffee, what a mess! Then later on I fell asleep again whilst holding a cup of very cold water straight from the fridge, a bit of a cold shock! Then at lunchtime I did it again, this time with tea.
Then this morning I dropped off and tipped my coffee down myself yet again. At this rate I`m going to run out of clean clothes!

Spilt, not spiked - iPad of very little brain!

So far this week I've spiked boiling water on both ankles and burned my hand on a metal skewer. No major damage fortunately, but don't these things allegedly come in threes? . Irons are dangerous things, I plan to avoid ours. Take care all you accident prone folk.

Galen are you making one for the kitchen as well? I do hope so, I will try to pop in but we have a very busy day tomorrow hereabouts!

soop, I have only burnt myself once on the iron (so far) but am very good at burning myself on the oven or with hot fat, have several scars to prove it

I see the weather forecasts for the SE and it looks as if it is very hot over there. Here we have had accompanied by occasional gusts of wind.

soop oh dear, maybe you should stay clear of irons for the foreseeable future! I hope that the burn heals quickly and that you can sleep tonight.

I hate to tell MacS that if Rory wants to cross the road he will! Still, all MacS can do is try. I am amazed that Rory wants to move off the sofa in this hot weather although I gather it is not boiling hot in your part of the country. Here, for me, it is too much.
