Happy Anniversary , Mr and Mrs GandTea ??, we will be we'd 50 years next year to.

Personally I usually only see things I would like when I am not looking for them. That means I have bought something else because I was desperate. I think jeggings are for stick insects, nobody over size 8 should be seen wearing them .

Well I managed to get into Inverness for a shop this morning. What a disappointment. Last time I went in (6 months ago!) I found trousers, jumper, top and cardigan from Coast. I still have £100 of vouchers from Christmas (sorry, am I allowed to mention that word?). But they are still in my handbag. What are jeggings for? with elastic waist! So went to M&S as I also have a voucher for there and I want a new duvet cover. Very little choice. Who wants warm brushed cotton at this time of year? I know it is North Scotland but ....

So I came home with a book and that was it. Tired out now from busy roads and lots of tourists.

Goodness me, these animals eat better than we do! Hope they all appreciate it. The week has caught up with me, so a fleeting visit. It seems we are also on grandparent duty on Monday, didn't expect that one its a bonus for us but a weekend of rest is ahead of us. Would so love a sit in the garden but it's blowing a gale here, we're on a very windy corner, so a snooze in the conservatory will just have to do. It's a hard life . Take care everyone.

Charleyg In response to your valid question...Rory has Vet's special biscuits for breakfast (they cost an arm and a leg)...he has special pouch of food for lunch, (he chooses between four gourmet flavours) he has a small tub of yet another special gourmet food at six o'clock, and a dish of freshly cooked, neatly cubed chicken at bedtime. Bracken has breakfast, afternoon tea and supper. He is a big cat. He has a big, healthy appetite.

soop can a self respecting cat not get a decent meal in your house any longer?! At least Bracken picks up a tasty mouse.

It is a glorious day in sunny Kintyre. Such a treat to feel warm without too many layers of clothing.

DaphneB You know what Grace appreciates. Treats place one or two or three on the tread of each step. We foolishly believed that our Rory might consider something like when he needed to visit the vet. Nope! I refused to anywhere near the temptation. Chose to climb on to the top shelf in the utility room. Hence the vet had to collect him. We witnessed a right rumpus on that occasion.
Would you believe that Rory is gaining weight yet again? MacS has a bag of Vet's special biscuits which he eats in place of his usual breakfast. The look on R's face when the bowl is put before him, is one of utter disdain.

Thanks Tricia but whoever wrote that old cliché about old dogs and new tricks knew Grace. My last greyhound and the lab were both happy to go in via the footwell, but Grace used to be like a "coiled spring" except of course when she realised what was coming! She might still make it but I just don't want to put any strain on her back legs/haunches/wrists. I actually have a ramp but after the last disastrous experience she is scared rigid of it. I also have a possible plan of using 3 big lidded storage boxes of varying heights to make a run of steps with a turtle mat over them and over the sill of the boot. I will admit that I have built it up as a problem in my mind and I just need to get on and do it! Suitably armed with treats of course.

Daphne there's a thread about car ramps for dogs in the pets section. I asked about it and got some good replies.
Th simplest was to get her to go into the well in front of the passenger seat, which she does now on the rare occasions she has to go in the car.

Grace knows how to spend any cash that you may or may not possess. Oh dear, I did not realise that you had been there, done it and got the T shirt. You try your best but animals have ideas of their own.

I know soop! The fact that I pay over £50 a month to Petplan doesn't seem to let me off the hook either!!

Oh the saga of the car ramp Charleygirl New Year 2015 I tried to ge her to walk up a ramp to go to kennels to "spare " the old back legs but being Grace, she decided she would jump,as per usual, but from beside the ramp, caught her paw in the boot lock, cut the pad and ran me up £200+ emergency vet bills.
I am hoping to borrow a pallet over which to drape a turtle mat to make a step/little platform so that she can walk in. We shall see.

Lona The move to your new apartment has worked wonders for your sense of well being. Us lot are chuffed for you.

DaphneB that's more like it. Something to look forward to. Could you bribe persuade the gentleman cleaner to stay a little longer when you are away from home? It's worth a try.

Charleyg We cannot approach Bracken, she's only ever happy when she and her Pa are sitting quietly together. We now put down a V-shaped pillow on which she can recline. She appears to have adopted it and spent a few hours curled up inside the V-shape. The moment I touched the door handle, she shot out of the house and hid behind her lodge/chalet/kennel.

Lona be careful, us lot will be arriving en masse to inspect the new abode. You appear to have settled in well. Bracken will be well settled in by C*****mas!

soop I did laugh, Rory does not appear to bother where Bracken goes now. There was a time when she was not allowed to put a paw over the doorstep. In a short while you will have two house trained cats! I do hope that MacSporran's attitude will change, Bracken has also had a hard life. I think perhaps I should remain invisible!

Daphne I see what you mean re hospital trips. Re Grace, could she not walk up a ramp to get into the car? The ramp need not be anything fancy or expensive, just a plank or two of wood to hold her weight.

ann your gd is beautiful and brave, no wonder she is so loved and you are so proud of her.
Daphne I hope you manage to go to see your lovely baby on Tuesday, you'll feel so much better not just for the cuddle, but also for having a day off.

I've managed to have my hair done today, and tomorrow I'm out for lunch so I think I must be settled in now!

Hope to go down on Tuesday, charleygirl when DH. doesn't have any appointments and my cleaner (a man) will be here for 3 hours so DH won't be on his own. Have to bear things like that in mind.
I am realising more and more how my life is constrained by H's needs(blood/INR tests Wed and Thurs,, blood transfusion on a Friday if the former is low , add in for next week, ears syringed on Monday, London hospitall visit on Thursday and you get the picture)
I also have to summon up the courage to try to take a Grace to the vet for her checkup. Moral, never have a dog you can't lift into the car.

Like I've nothing better to do.
