ann Dear husband is going to have a wee shock somewhere along the line. You will not be firing on all pistons for some considerable time. Best if someone "in charge" notifies him of this fact soon. I've had both hips replaced. It takes time for the body to adjust to what is, after all, an assault.
You will need a grabber in order to pick stuff up from the floor. A walk-in shower would be a blessing. I can also assure you that, in time, all the pain will disappear and you will be so pleased to have had surgery.

So pleased your surgery is imminent soopalthough I think I will be out be out (fingers firmly crossed) before you go. Things a bit tense here. H is only concerned with himself while I am in and then he thinks everything will be back to normal and he has stated that he will not be doing any cooking as he can't!! I think as the Chinese curse says " we will be living in interesting times".

Nelliem Pop along to the doctor's surgery. Get some good advice. Sometime ago I felt as you do right now and did nowt. Finished up in hospital with Pneumonia. Not funny!

The very worst "loo" that I've needed to visit was in Crete. I was on a bus tour and we were in in the middle of nowhere. The driver suggested that anyone wishing to spend a penny could do so at a Monastery. The lavvy was a pit (no doors) just a great big pit. I didn't like that experience one little bit.

I'm hoping that we may soon have an update on Boggit's hoped for recovery.

I am so pleased that it is somebody I "know" who has won the books. That is quite a pile but I doubt if each is so exciting that you will want to read them all.

I definitely would make a start because once your daughters start borrowing books you will be lucky to see any of them returned.

Reading of the hygiene activities some Granspals practise in loos reminds me of a visit to Monet's Garden, which we made a few years ago. The Loos there came shrink-wrapped in plastic wrap and automatically cleaned and re-wrapped after each visit. OTT or what? Plus it led to big queues as the whole operation took longer than a mere flush!

We had to go out yesterday and decided to have a nice lunch in a posh hotel in Contin. Instead of blanching at the cost we decided we would rather do this occasionally than eat out cheaply once a week, especially as our local cafe has got too popular and standards have slipped. Also we were so full that we just had a snack in the evening.

We're still soldiering on with the great Tidy Up . Grampy's decorating anything that stands still...even Sam got a 'badger stripe' from a close encounter with a door frame yesterday !!

Got a busy few days , DGS3 &4 coming tomorrow lunchtime for an overnight stay and then we are babysitting them at their house Sunday night. I think their Mum and Dad are trying to get every last babysitting second out of us before we move !!

ann I'm so pleased you have your date. Only a few days now. As others have said, bring up the help situation right away, and keep quiet about family help. Another Gran had her knee op last week, or certainly very recently , so maybe you can exchange notes. At least you will have been prepared for what to expect immediately, but with the knowledge that you will be able to walk painlessly in time. Please keep in touch with us as much as possible.
nellie I sympathise. So-and-so cough bugged me for weeks and it's horrible.

I have come in for another night. I am still nearly coughing my head off and as a result every time I cough gunge up my neck starts jerking and my head is aching. I know many of you are in a worse state but I feel awful right now. #feelingsorryformyself.

Been a busy couple of days. We made an offer on our chosen house and another couple immediately offered more. We've made our final offer but we're not hopeful. This whole moving business is fraught .

Anyway , Daphne your photo of Grace made me chuckle . It reminds me of our Grandaughter who when she was small would hide under a stool and if you asked her ' little girl have you seen Laura ?' . She would pop her head out and say ' no' !

When I was a wee girl, my mother always stressed...don't sit on the seat. If I should forget her instruction, I used get myself into a right tizwoz.

Re the wet wipes - I took in some anti-bacterial wipes and DD cleaned my bedside cupboard (!) and I used them when I went to the bathroom to wipe the toilet seat and handle and door handle (probably tmi) .

It has been so windy today and showery too - more like April than August.

annsixty when you are admitted I would conveniently forget that the date is family friendly to look after H!!! You want to get as much practical help as you possibly can and keep harping on that you can no longer cope. You are having major surgery and it takes around 3 months to recover from that, not being so tired etc.

We had the most spectacular storm in the early hours. Lightning flashes every 30 seconds. Thunder seemed a long way off. MacSporran switched off the computer and such. Rory didn't bat an eyelid. Some cats...

How is Boggit? Any improvement will be welcomed by us lot.

Crafting I've completed a morning of ironing duties for my pal. At one o'clock sharp, MacT collects me. However...there is a wee ritual to honour before we part company. A very wee dram is poured for all peoples present. It is the best bit of the day. I sip it, blether, sip again, until finally, MacS takes me home. One wee dram. Perfect!
