Oh! Lordy!

I'll be glad when the football is over,we don't all like sport and want to see our usual programmes.

Unfortunately Sky sports don't have The European football championships or Wimbledon so BBC and ITV show them. If your TV has freeview then there are lots more channel's you can watch. I am thoroughly enjoying all the Sport. I get a lot of knitting done and look forward to the Open Golf and then the Olympics. Only Tennis and golf are Once each year, European and world football and Olympics every 4 years. Maybe some Gransnetters need to get some hobbies ..

Was the football on both ITV and BBC?
I thought there were alternatives because they had not decided whether they were on ITV or BBC.

I quite enjoy the tennis but football bores me rigid! Consoling myself that Poldark season 2 will be screened in the autumn.

I have to admit that I am in heaven at present with Wimbledon and also football on. I do think it unfair that people who are not interested in sport are left with zilch to watch and if anything other than sport is televised, it is a repeat.

I do not like golf, rugby or motor racing but when working I have been known to take a couple of weeks annual leave to watch athletics when the Olympics is on.

It is difficult to work out what is on TV anyway because of the different permutations.

Hubby is not really into football but is watching all the matches at the moment. Thank goodness he's not also watching the tennis. I have give up. I think the powers that be have a few treats coming up when all this sport is over.

We have said for a while there should be a channel for sport not on two main channels
Cancelling regular programs is unfair to people who aren't interested think most of people with a say on how programs go out must like it and people that love main sports are shocked when we say we aren't interested (how dare we) ?

I agree that you don't know for sure when other programmes will be on, due to FOOTBALL and a lot of the tennis.
Last night's edition of Casualty will be shown tonight.
Pointless will be on again today,(I think)the first time for what seems like ages.
Even dramas such as 'Endeavour' and 'Midsomer Murders' are repeats.
If you can get 'Challenge' station on your TV there are lots of quiz programmes on there.
No football Monday and Tuesday.
I will be glad when it ends, but the new Football season starts in August, I think.

It's making me go to my sewing corner of the conservatory and actually finish half done projects with my little tv on non-sporty programmes or radio. DH insists he can hear the tv without his hearing aids, but the volume hurts my ears, especially car racing! Thank goodness the conservatory door has double glazing so is relatively soundproof.

Tour de France for me too, and to a certain degree Formula 1 which we watch on Sky anyway. We save up recorded episodes of programmes to watch in one go, (skipping the adverts if necessary), when the football is on constantly.

It was a joke! That's what I meant by 'just joshing' apologies, should've made myself clearer! It's just my sense of humour I'm afraid.

Yes Gagagran there should be a separate dedicated BBC/ITV sports so that those who want to can watch sport without having to pay for Sky's exorbitant fees and the rest can get on with watching our usual progs.
Yes Badenkate I do enjoy the Tour de France. We record the highlights. I love France very much and love seeing the country as they pass through. They have drunken oils too in their crowds don't they?

Badenkate - me too. Love the Tour including the marvellous scenery.We have been to watch it in France three times and it was just brilliant. DH is a keen cyclist so it is something we watch together unlike the other sports he loves - rugby (both codes) and football.I do have a favourite football team though and have done from childhood (Liverpool).

I like horse racing for the same reason as I like cycling- beautiful fit athletes performing at the highest level and always straining every sinew to win.

The TV schedulers must think a majority of viewers want to watch the sport they put on but it does feel rather selfish to override what non-sporty others want. I agree that a dedicated sports channel should be used on BBC/ITV like the SkySports and Eurosports ones.

I was really miffed when they changed the time for Country File for sport, perhaps I missed the announcement. We eventually found it and watched on Catch-up on Wednesday. neither DH or I into football but I do watch the very occasional tennis match. Now Rugby is a different matter

As I write DH has caught up with tennis highlights and is now watching some football. We've just come on from my choral concert-G&S, went really well since you ask-and immediately on goes the sport. It drives me mad. Please forgive me those of you who would give anything to have your DHs there to moan about. . . .
I wouldn't mind but it just swamps everything. When you think what's going on in the world and in the country come to that and we just seem to have wall to wall sport. Wouldn't mind if these pampered and overpaid prima donnas set a good example for our youngsters but they generally are such a shower.

I`m another who hates sport, and the wall to wall football is getting just a bit too much. Buying the TV Times is a waste of money right now, we can`t plan ahead for viewing unless we know which channel is showing football. I`m so disappointed not to have Casualty tonight.
Breeze, Printmiss isn`t a TV license dodger, she`s reached, and passed, the age whereby she no longer has to pay for a license. I hope she doesn`t mind me saying so.

I can't stand all the sport either. Never mind Euro 2016. Wimbledon, the Rugby, and the forthcoming Olympics - my DH subscribes to Sky Sports and would happily sit and watch sports all evening, every evening. Oh, interspersed with a bit of Eggheads or Pointless, both of which he records so he can watch them whenever the sport doesn't hold his interest.
Thank heavens for the other room, where we have another TV and Sky box, so I can watch what I want to - or just sit in peace, reading a book - without having to fall out over it!

I know a lot of people really enjoy watching Wimbledon but it's on both BBC channels all afternoon and evening every day! And then they have highlights in the evening! I don't mind the football so much as I have watched a few of the matches, but so much stuff has either been taken off or moved to weird times.

Actually it issue worse by a lot of te commentators with their yelling and inane remarks.

I, too, am peed off that both BBC1 and ITV are showing the football tonight. Over the weeks they've been aternating, so I thought at least I'd have Casualty to watch tonight.

DH loves watching all sport, after 40 years I am used to avoiding anything that does not interest me and it keeps him happy though I do like watching some football. TBH there is so much crap on telly nowadays it isn't just sport I am avoiding. As well as gardening and reading I find I am watching more on my iPad

Well my newspaper says Casualty is on at 9:25 , what is going on? Sorry I meant to say I don't mind the sport OH and I like Wimbledon and we watch the football games mostly involving home teams..
