.......on the bungalow! Gulp! Moving date 8th July if all goes well. I am just doing the maths on it all - more gulp!

Just got the keys!!!!

It is very frustrating that the removal firm cannot get to us till July 6th!

bella Give the playgroup paintings to the thirty year old baby and feel those strings loosen girl !

Luckygirl Fri 24-Jun-16 09:33:56

Oh Lona - I do identify with you. I felt in limbo till yesterday when I heaved a big sigh - and insured the new property pdq!

I also understand the dilemmas about what to take bella....we have got a bit ruthless during this process. The criterion is: will our children know what the hell to do with this item when they are clearing our place out when we pop our clogs?

belladonna Fri 24-Jun-16 09:21:13

Congratulations on your move....we are in the process of moving...downsizing...what to take?...the kids..my baby is thirty...paintings from playgroup..that China loved but never used etc etc .. colour coding boxes a brilliant idea..any more suggestions welcome. Anyone live in Stafford??

Lona Fri 24-Jun-16 08:48:39

You've certainly lived up to your name now Luckygirl smile
It is exhausting packing up and trying to get rid of stuff, and then find the kettle!
I'm still in limbo, today or Monday we should be exchanging, and my flat is tantalisingly empty and the keys are burning a hole in my pocket.

I hope your move goes smoothly for you, and you don't wear yourself out! flowers

Thanks glamma for your good wishes. Bungalows are few and far between here too, especially ones on fairly level ground. We saw some pretty poky dark ones online when we were searching. We are very lucky indeed to have found one that suits us and I wish you lots of luck in your search.

Anyone want a Broadwood piano? - we don't have room for it! I also have an excellent Yamaha piano, so we will not be deprived of music! - but the big one has to go.

glammanana Fri 24-Jun-16 08:23:56

Luckygirl It sounds ideal for you & your hubby enjoy the bungalow and the difference it will make to your daily life,we are still waiting for a suitable bungalow in our area but they are very few and far between but one will become available soon just a matter of time.

So kind of you all to send good wishes. It is an exciting time, but quite stressful. I am dreaming of being able to make my OH a cup of tea and take it to him in bed without having to put the tea on one step, pull myself up a few steps, move the tea up another few steps......etc! Just pop into the kitchen and back to the bedroom.

The people selling the bungalow must be turning cartwheels of joy having found buyers that have moved things along so quickly and good that you can get on with a few jobs before the big move.

Best of Luck.

Wow lucky, that was quick. Be happy in your new home.

Alima Thu 23-Jun-16 17:17:25

Brilliant news. We lived in a bungalow for a while and loved it - only moved because we could not settle where it was!

Ana Thu 23-Jun-16 17:04:31

(sorry missed out c)

Ana Thu 23-Jun-16 17:03:57

Lovely to have everything signed - no backing out possible by anyone now. Thaat change of name certainly seems to have done the trick, Lukygirl! grin

All contracts now exchanged, a load of dosh has changed hands and completion just round the corner. Removers are coming to pack on 6th and 7th July and we are due in on 8th. We are getting there.

I feel completely worn out now. I am off for a short walk in the fresh air. We have 3 year old DGD for the day tomorrow so will put all thoughts of sorting, packing and moving out of our minds and take a day off from it all!

It seems funny to be squatters in what is now my DD's house!

rosesarered Tue 21-Jun-16 18:41:00

Hope all goes smoothly for you, you will soon get it all as you want it ( and that's part of the fun.) Decking needs Ronseal or similar ( we had decking at our last house) and I used to do it with a roller ( it's easy) every other year.Good luck in your new home.?

Luckygirl Tue 21-Jun-16 18:07:36

Thanks for all your good wishes. We are hoping for completion next week but we will be living here in what will then be my DD and SIL's house till the following week when the removers are available. But we will be able to go in and out and clean, put up curtains etc. Clearing out here is quite a task!

harrigran Tue 21-Jun-16 17:47:54

That is good news, good luck and lots of happiness in your new home.

BBbevan Tue 21-Jun-16 04:51:21

Good luck*LG*. We are stil at the viewing stage so I envy you.

fiorentina51 Tue 21-Jun-16 03:17:43

Congratulations Lucky lady. By the way, I'm one of those odd bods who happen to live in a bungalow with a balcony! ☺

rubylady Tue 21-Jun-16 02:51:02

Congrats Lucky Get ready to stand and point! I colour coded the boxes (with A4 paper on top) and rooms so that the delivery men knew which room the box was meant to go into. It worked well. Unless you have someone packing for you, of course. smile

Charleygirl Mon 20-Jun-16 22:10:32

That is great news having a moving date. July is a lot better than January- congratulations.

Luckygirl Mon 20-Jun-16 22:03:17

We don't have a balcony but the back of the bungalow is ringed in decking - anyone an expert on caring for decking!?

NanaandGrampy Mon 20-Jun-16 21:46:35

Sorry Lucky my brain read the wrong name... Unlikely you'll have a balcony on a bungalow :-) Congratulations anyway!!

grannyactivist Mon 20-Jun-16 21:24:59

Well done Lucky - I wish you a quick and easy move. flowers

Indinana Mon 20-Jun-16 21:18:55

Blimey, that was quick! You've certainly picked a great time of year to be moving, so lucky it didn't drag on and on, as these things so often do.
All the very best for the big day Luckygirl, and I do hope you'll both be happy there.
