Is it because it's a technically challenging feature to introduce? Or is it because GNHQ are just plain stubborn and refuse to give their members what they want? <runs and hides>

A "like" button would be the best option, but we are unlikely to get one.

Yes, that kind of works, but when people reading the thread come across such a post, they then have to scroll back through the thread (and it might be a long way back) just to see what you are referring to. Even the poster him/herself that you are posting a smiley to may not be sure which exact post you're referencing without scrolling back and checking. A like button on the post itself would keep everything in context.

Neither like or dislike buttons , just more unpleasantness will emerge with them

I wish I could use that too, though I can if I go on my PC. Can't seem to have the choice on my mobile.

I still use the old desktop site, Anya. Not that I'm a bit of a Luddite or anything...

Can't even get 'last hour' on this stupid GN format.

Can't use cut and paste on this particular tablet or on this GN format GT anyway.

But suppose that a great many people liked Anya's post and they all posted smiley comments like that through the thread, it could get a bit confusing.
Much easier if we could see that her post got 37 likes,

A only covers it if you've just read a post. If it's a post further back then you'd gave to do what GT does, which is a bit long winded.

GNHQ have given reasons why they don't provide a 'like' button but I can't say I agree with them, especially with the way GN is headed. It would give balance IMO and allow a voice, albeit a quiet one, to those who don't like to post as much as others.

I think a covers it.
I do however 100% agree we need to be able to edit.

Yes, a 'like' button had been requested many a time but nothing has ever come if it. I'd agree with Merlot about fast moving threads and also those of us who can't get post so often.

Certainly NOT a 'disagree' button though.

a 'like' button would be incredibly useful. But I wouldn't want a 'dislike' one for the simple reason that if I dislike something I am likely to want to explain . So I'm going to post anyway.

But with a like - I'm just expressing support ( unless I want to add something )

There was a place to mention it in the survey for things you would like to see.
