Playful and nonchalant

Agree, Mick64 it seems that some fashion designers (not all) would run screaming from the studio if they came across a real woman with a real body. You also wonder whether the women, if any, in their lives ever dig over a veg patch, trek home with three bags of shopping, turn out the cupboard under the stairs or change a messy nappy.

What is your nonchalant look for today, Mick? Does it compare with G&T's

My nonchalant go to outfit first thing is often grey velour joggers and a fetching Eau-de-nil v-necked cotton jumper.
On Sunday I had a lovely 2 hours going through old photos looking for a particular one in response to a post from * Indinana*, didn't find it but came across one of me holding newborn GS, wearing said jumper (and pearls). He was 17 in March!!

I've decided to become a fashion writer- so I'm practising!! Today I am wearing a jovial turquoise spotted dressing gown perfectly set off by a pair of buoyant pink pyjamas.

Yes. I've even heard of a ' Speedo'!

I'm not sure what a "playful accessory" is, a skipping rope? What annoys me about fashion writers is they put everything in the singular - "a trouser" , "a jean" " a sandal" , when they mean "trousers", "jeans" , and "sandals", anyone else noticed this?

I'm an old bloke. When I was young I was the first to wear "straights" instead of "drainpipes". That shows my age. Fashion is never from the bottom up but always from the top down. I am about to say something that is politically incorrect but I believe it is pertinant. A lot of fashion designers are gay men, a lot of fashion designers, and critics, are older women "Cougars" they both like young, slim, fit men. They design their clothing to fit young, slim, fit men. They demand their female models to look like young, slim, fit men. For God's sake ordinary blokes like a bit of flesh, get over it women, just be your beautiful selves.

Boaters attire. Here I am modelling the Boater's Winter ensemble, accessorised, as you can see, with windlass holster (just looks like a bum bag, but it isn't!), complete with leather palmed gardening gloves (to prevent blisters when operating the locks) and aluminium windlass (used to open the lock paddles). The whole look completed with a jaunty, red 1960s cap. Note the waterproof, non slip footwear - fluffy sheepskin slippers wouldn't stand up to the job! Eat your heart out, Gok Wan!

I think the fashion writers and writers for photos are trainee work experience !

Still in my old cotton trousers, old t shirt and now have to go and cook the dinner because the butler nonchalantly walked out, giving a playful little victory sign with his fingers as he left.

If you go shopping in the morning here you see all the oldies (like me) looking nonchalant, wearing their best outfits from the '90s.
What they wear at home is a different matter.
The youngsters , very trendy, shop in the afternoons.
Now my footwear is just comfortable, socks and soft shoes or sandals that don't rub my corns etc.

By the way no-one beat my attire of an 20 year old nightdress that is saggy and baggy, worn inside out!! It was too painful to get dressed properly. Oh......and I'm not nonchalant at the mo........too much pain!

The stiff binding on plimsolls used to cut the back of my ankle to bits in the fifties. Are they more comfortable these days? They seem to be very trendy at the mo.

jalima clearly you and I are women of good breeding and taste. After I have given Mellors his orders (!)this afternoon I shall drift elegantly and fragrantly into my satin lounging pyjamas a la Katherine Hepburn or possibly bobbly M & S leggings and a long top to cover mon derriere.

As usual, I will be changing into one of my ballgowns before dinner is served by the butler at 7 pm prompt.

I have a lovely idea of what everyone is wearing sitting at their lap tops etc not giving a fig for the whims of fashion editors - go us!!! bet we wouldn't turn up in this lot at a gransnet meet up though!!

Thank goodness you all sound wonderfully "normal"....I will not forsake my well worn but washed - t shirt and leggings and unbrushed hair, and potter around as usual! Couldn't walk out of the house like this though. It's great to be yourself behind closed doors!
