It's quite hard to kill a slug by stamping on it. They just seem to get smaller.

Or putting your foot inside your gardening clog outside the back floor and finding a frog already inside it.

LOL, we have a wildlife pond, frogs are everywhere, even indoors !

It's up there with picking up a flowerpot and a frog landing on my bare foot. I don't think I've ever shrieked so loudly....sorry neighbours ?

Non, Slugs are like whales ?? You must have seen mine, they are about that size. They are an endangered species, certainly if they keep munching through my veg garden.

Someone has eaten one, a web site states that Spanish slugs taste bitter, which is why hedgehogs, frog, birds don't eat them.

Kitty, weren't you going to try one ?

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 10:57:29

Never eaten a slug so can't possibly comment smile

I hate Lily Beetles with a passion as well. I took my eye off the ball mid spring and they completely destroyed the Frittilarias (Crown Imperials)

All that was left were a few stumps sad

I was just eating some fried mushrooms on toast when I read this. The consistency of the mushrooms are like slugs, so it's put me off!!

I was Vine Weevil hunting for ages, finished sifting the soil and repotted and planted new plants. All looks lovely.

Yesterday after this awful weather I went outside and a pot of Lillies were virtually wiped out, just rotten looking stems. For the first time I realised what I had always thought were little black seeds or nodules were horrible orange Lilly Beetle grubs wrapped apparently in poo for camouflage!! Boy they are hungry little b-----s.

merlotgran Fri 17-Jun-16 10:52:04

Ooooooh you are a wussy lot grin

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 10:51:40

Oh dear..

I like slugs. I compare them to whales. Very similar. Would never hurt one, or a snail for that matter.

Minibeasts.

harrigran Fri 17-Jun-16 10:50:02

Yuck, I once picked one up thinking it was a curled leaf on the lawn. I can still be sick at the thought of it.

Katek Fri 17-Jun-16 10:44:05

Aargh ..... no, no, NO!! I'm shuddering.

kittylester Fri 17-Jun-16 10:32:56

I've just been refilling the bird feeders and decided that the pots needed to be spread out a bit as everything is so lush! I picked up one of the pots of nasturtiums and put my finger right into one of those enormous slugs and now I can't shake the image or feeling - I blame GandTea for importing them. shock
