Do you notice your partner ?

DD had a great deal of facial piercings which I hated but never commented on. When visiting her home one day, I had been there for some hours when she said, "Mum, you haven't said anything!" I was wondering what I had missed but couldn't think of anything.
"I have taken ALL of my piercings out!!"
I hadn't noticed! It does show that after time you just see the person.

I do remember coming home with radically different hair (permed,curly) when DD1 was about 6 months She wailed, and recognised me only when I spoke and picked her up -I assume I smelt and sounded right. (Though maybe she just didnt like it..)
DH did actually comment my hair was shorter last time I came back from hairdresser ,adding hastily that he liked it. It wasn't radically shorter and I hadn't actually noticed. I trust hairdresser implicitly and just let him get on with it !

I once had a radical hairdo (well for me anyway). When DS came home I posed a bit and said 'well?' He looked worriedly at me then said 'Happy Birthday'? Sigh.

I do understand Lyndylou and GranTea and I would never judge anyone's relationship. If you love one another that is enough. . But the person asleep beside me now is my husband of 52 yrs. We may do most everything together and in that sense we are partners, but we are married and so he is my husband. Even if he might look like Captain Birdseye

Following a beard-trimmer malfunction a couple of months ago My beard was reduced to the shortest stubble imaginable. DW didn't notice, nor did DDs, nor did DGCs.

Just goes to show, GandTea, our personalities outshine our physical appearance. As you would expect.....

I used the word "partner" in the thread title because it covers all situations. Some are married to someone of the opposite sex, others to the same sex, others may not be married etc. Mny people these day are not married in the old sense.

I always notice when OH needs a shave or haircut as I'm the one that does the cutting/clippering although he does shave himself . I've cut his hair ever for over 20yrs must of saved him a fortune in barber costs.

I had a husband, BBbevan, he wasn't always very nice but we survived together for 25 years which is a fair run for two people who probably should not have married in the first place. I definitely never want another one.

Now I have a partner and he is my partner in everything in a way my husband never was. We don't live in each other's pockets but we do lots together and we try to please each other all the time.

I'm very proud to call him my partner, even if it seems that a two week nagging session is essential every time he needs a hair cut. I think partnership is a lovely description of our relationship.

I also know when DH has had a shave. Not only does he have very prickly whiskers but I sit and chat to him whilst he does it (and stroke his back)

DH grew a beard when DD was about 3 but swiftly shaved it off when she refused to kiss him or allow him to kiss her because it was too tickly. He's never had one since and I prefer him clean shaven anyway.

Both my Dad had and two brothers have moustaches - all ex-army and I think that must be why!

I used to complain that DH never noticed ME, and then one Saturday, he shaved off half his moustache and walked around the house for a whole morning without me noticing it!! Touché! He was going to shave it off anyway.

I don't have a partner. I have a husband. Before that a fiancé, and before that a boyfriend all the same person..
'partner' always makes me think of dancing.
And yes I do notice him. He does his own grooming regularly and always looks good,

ditto, although it is difficult to get him to go (years of short hair in the Services and now he is rebelling in his 70s!)

And the beard was a 'full set' RN style, not a nice neat one!

My DH has side boards (is that what you call them??. I'm not talking furniture. But strips of hair in front of ears).
He won't shave them off even though we all tell him he would look younger with out them.
However a couple of years ago he did and like Mrs P I failed to notice!
They were promptly grown back.
Maybe one day they will be fashionable again but not sure about the grey variety though.

DH shaved his beard off a few months ago. He stood in the kitchen and smiled at me.
I said 'Stop staring at me like that, smiling oddly and go away please'

I did notice later in the afternoon.

We get that ja, as in 'a wet cut only costs me £14, Couldn't you dry your hair when you get home?'

I always know when MrA has had his remaining hair cut, as he comes and stands in front of me, bending his head from side to side and making coughing noises, waiting for me to remark on his visit to the barber's.
This performance usually takes some time.
It's then followed by a comment on the cost of the visit to the barber, and compared favourably with the cost of my visits to the hairdresser, though since that is a state secret, he doesn't have any solid evidence to support his claims.

In fact, I didn't even notice after a week. I was alerted to the possibility that it might have gone by a friend meeting us in the street and saying to him "Oh, you've shaved your moustache off. You look completely different."

Oh dear, I didn't notice for a week that DH had shaved off the much hated and derided moustache. This was about 20 years ago, and I've become quite unobservant since then

She is probably so stunned that you have done what she asked that she has lost the power of speech!

Do you notice when she's been the hairdressers
H has not had a beard since the children were young. S has one or not depending how lazy he's being. I do notice when he shaves.

Could it be that she now realises that she prefers you with a beard, but doesn't know what to say?
