I'm about to log off.
Not a bad day weather-wise. Still muggy and there has been a very light sprinkling of rain. We haven't had a storm, unlike many of our Granspals. The midges are awful. Also spotted a house martin's nest being completed under the eaves. Parents-to-be extremely industrious.

I hope that our Kitcheners have a pleasant and peaceful evening. To all of you who are suffering from various buggerations (hugs) of the healing kind.

Any of you lot watching tennis from Queens? I did watch part of Andy's match yesterday. Nothing much since.

jollyg A very long time ago, I went on a training course with M&S. Recruits had to work on a variety of counters become "expert" on the merchandise. My first week was linked to hosiery. One of the many shades of stockings was - Sirocco. Yellowy/sandy/spicy.
We've been on the Calmac ferry twice. From Oban to Mull, and Kennacraig to Islay. It was a blowy mini adventure for us to travel on the water.

The Sirocco comes from the Sahara, a bit windy, but covers everything in its tracks with Yellow sand.

At least with the sea near you just have to get the scrubbers to hose the deck, with water.

Oh the joys of sea travel.

I still remember the crossing from Oban to S Uist with Calmac, the smell of engine oil mingled with the frying of chips .

And yes on the return trip were, Calmac taking a heard of cattle to the Oban mart, so much noise, cant complain as himself won it in a raffle!

Last night's sky was beautiful.

Ahhhh! I've done the weekly ironing for my pal. The moment that I walk into our home and smell the coffee is wonderful.

Your hairstyle is beautiful. Your daughter is quite naturally tired beyond endurance (at the moment). This phase seems to last for an eternity...but we Grans know that it too shall pass.

I would be very happy to share a communal garden. In spite of all the recent hard work, ours, in parts, is seriously overgrown. I asked MacSporran to consider creating a paved terrace on which we could lounge with our Pimms. I'd imagined some decorative pots of easy to care for plants.

millymouge I would welcome a trip to the hairdresser. My hair is, like parts of our garden, out of control.

anno pharmacists are far more clued up than GPs. It is their job, after all. My GP always has to consult the BNF and as you say they often don't give you any information at all.
I didn't know about the obligatory interview! I've picked up prescriptions a couple of times in the last two weeks but there was no comment.

Can't get into Malta due to the Scirocco! Bella can't unload her extra stones of shopping! Going to Naples again instead then Palermo then back to Civitavecchia to catch the plane home!?

Alea - lovely photos and I'm glad to see you looking so happy after the tough time you've been having recently. The little fellow is obviously thriving. What a good friend your DD has.
number if you can't get hold of your doctor, for information about medicine withdrawal, a pharmacist will be able to tell you what you need to know. When I went to pick up my prescriptions yesterday, the pharmacist explained that they are now obliged to interview over-60s about their medication. He was really knowledgeable and gave me one piece of info that no doctor had bothered to mention - ie that I shouldn't take thyroxin and calcium at the same time. Take care xxx

Alea I think that those photos are just gorgeous. I could happily look at more until we move into the next kitchen! Maybe the fact that I can say "ah" here and do not have to wash the young man, change his nappies etc may well have something to do with it. His friend looks like his brother!

It was good for you to have a day off as you have been through so much recently, worrying and galloping around the country to get DH the best form of treatment for his condition. I hope that he is more appreciative now and that charm school worked.

Is Grace okay- coping with all that life throws at her?!

Tara and I , having slept most of yesterday afternoon, had the nerve to have an early night and we surfaced around 9am although she was willing to move around 5am.

My reclining chair of 2 months old, if that, will not recline and is in the most uncomfortable upright position so I must take a trip to the store to see when it can be fixed.

The sun is out here but for how long?

Alea those photos are so lovely. I agree tiny babies are so holdable.....but wouldn't be back to that exhaustion! Your poor DD looks shattered.

I've just got my 2 GSs off to school! House looks like a tornado has crashed through it. Don't know how their mum does it, with a demanding full time job to get out to as well! Brings back those times when I was getting 4 out. ?

Oh those lovely babes, unfortunately my GC's are all well past that stage now. As for the weather, I can personally quarantee rain with possible winds. The reason - my day for the hairdresser. For some reason the weather gods like it wild the day milliemouge visits the hairdresser

Alea what lovely, lovely pictures. You certainly look every inch the proud Granny!! That visit will have given you a boost I'm sure. Tiny babies are my favourite ( don't tell my lot ). Your daughters friend sounds like a 'keeper' that's what I call friendship .

Today we are back to our usual schedule so will be picking DGS3 up , although not swimming today. So I need to think up something interesting for the afternoon. The weather is unlikely to play ball , so it will be something inside I suspect.

Hope you all get a little bit of dry weather at least today!!

I was so tired last night that I did not read through yesterday's posts properly and oh dear, some of you are not having an easy time. Soop I was so very saddened to hear of your friend. Would it be out of order, given that his wife has gone, to hope this is not prolonged over long? So distressing for someone to be a shadow of their former self.

As for the whole stress of selling and buying lona I haven't moved in 20 years and I still,occasionally get nightmares but with a whole load of luck and finger crossing in the kitchen, by early July you will be having us all round to in your new flat
I said last night how DD's friend is expressing milk for her , well here is a pic of both babies. My DGS is on the right and her boy, on the left, is 10 weeks old. How lovely to have a wee friend from day 1. DGS was fascinated by him, but being a "big boy now" his new little friend was more interested in the toys hanging from the playmat.

What a lot has been going on today! I hope it has ended well,for you all.
My Sis-in-law, a retired GP is staying a couple of nights so that I could spend today with DD and the new baby ????
He is so tiny and sweet and she is persevering with BF as she really wants to. He is gaining, but v slowly but a close friend whose baby is 6 weeks older has tons of milk so she is expressing some each day for DD to use as to top-ups. That's friendship! Much overdue cuddles but also just nice to sit with DD while she fed and occasionally rested. This gives an idea of how exhausted she is. Who'd be a new mum!!

Been busy all day, so catching up. Sorry to hear about the 'downs' of the day. Wishing you all a day of 'ups' tomorrow. , , , - not necessarily in that order .

rosesarered there are certain drugs which cannot be stopped immediately, one has to be weaned off them gradually. That may well be why you are feeling weepy.

Is there any date and walnut cake around here?
