soop it is such a pity that you live so far away from the hospital where the surgery will be carried out because sometimes it is easier sorting it out face to face.

The curtain saga continues. The lady I was supposed to meet rang me yesterday wondering why I had not turned up. I explained that I had emailed the store concerned the previous day, cancelling my appointment. There was no telephone number supplied and it is not my fault that all emails go to head office. It would not have mattered because she spluttered that she does not check her emails.

She then tried to give me the hard sell over the phone, being a consultant don't ya know, insisting that she need not come to my house to measure up etc. The engineer was here servicing my gas boiler, laughing his head off when I told her I had a plumbing emergency and could not think straight, She would not go without me making an appointment which I refused to do. Back to the drawing board, especially re my Venetian blind which is small. That company should change its web page site as it is inaccurate.

I am certain we will hear bickering or worse for days on the sites once we know the result. I will let them get on with it as we cannot change the result. I postal voted 2 weeks ago.

I have no idea if there was thunder and lightening here last night, I slept through it and my house was not floating down the road this morning, nor was my car. It is very wet but that has not deterred Tara.

Out later today to choose vinyl flooring for my kitchen. I am standing at the front door it would appear, with my purse open.

It concerns me that apparently many young doctors are leaving to work in Australia. There are quite a few Scottish doctors in New Zealand, one of my family has been there for over 40 years.

Well I agree with you NandG - let us take refuge in the civility and calm of soop's kitchen together until IT is decided and all the shouting dies down.

I have brought some freshly made - and still warm scones, a pot of home made strawberry jam and some clotted cream for anyone needing a bit of something sweet.

Busy day with DGD , and DGS2 and DGS3. The rain means all outdoor activities are curtailed...its going to get messy

Soop I have only been on the waiting list for my TKR for 6 weeks unlike you. I was told the waiting list currently was very short 6/8 weeks. I had my pre-op on the same day, so of course I will be in in the next 2weeks.
Like you I am not holding my breath.

Thanks for all the kind messages, flowers, huggs and the yummy cake. I am sure going into a home will be the right thing for my brother but it is hard to imagine it has come to this.

My mum has a death plan but every time she looks like dying they give us another form.

Apparently (no connection with funeral plans) we should all have a Death Plan .
Remembering Birth Plans which went out of the window at the first serious contractions or might have been used to beat the soon-to be father about the head with, I wonder how "binding" these will be.
My own plan will start with "Let's not be hasty, maybe we could all give it a couple of decades?" And continue with "If I can't take it with me, I have no intention of going".
One thing is certain, the Grim Reaper will still come to call whatever we have planned.

The phone rang. I was on the exercise bike. I dismounted. A far-off voice asked me - what kind of a day I was having? Went on to ask had I a funeral plan. I was polite. I didn't lose my cool. Just as well after the afternoon I've been having.

A brief recap to amuse my Granspals...

Phoned the secretary of the consultant who was to have given me a procedure (in hospital). Simply asked...as I've been waiting since 11th November 2015 and had the pre-op assessment almost a month ago, could she please tell me whether or not I'm to have the procedure that was guaranteed for the first week in June. I was given a number to call. There was no reply. I returned to explain that the phone appeared to be unmanned. Same very helpful secretary tried another number while I waited. Five minutes and no response. Phoned another number at the head of one of my many letters. No response...until an answer phone clicked in. Left a message for someone to call me regarding my case. I did receive a call. I'm on a waiting list 'but cannot be given more info' as some other secretary deals with such matters. Was informed that a letter is in the post. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Deep breath...letter explains that the lists are long and the available beds are few. So...no further on than I was before I made the initial phone call. The lady I spoke to was extremely understanding. Tomorrow, she assures me that another lady will contact me. So, you see, when the call came regarding a funeral plan I was tempted to ask how soon do you need me to sign on the dotted line

NanaandGrampy I agree that the sites are beautifully managed. Some of the residences are possibly grander than our wee hoos. I think that MacSporran simply could never accept that we needed to up-sticks and leave Kintyre.
Our garden is slowly but surely becoming a problem to manage. Sometime soon we may need to employ a gardener to help keep the "wilderness" in check. In spite of a back-breaking onslaught in the spring, much of our garden is knee deep in tall grasses and ferns. The nettles are okay. Butterflies like them.

We had a 'cabin' on a country park in the Peak District. It was essentailly two static caravans put together. We recently sold it as none of us used it that much but I can't imagine living in it.

I'm having a fraught morning!! I had a list as long as my arm of phone calls to do, emails to send etc, but have spent a lot of time trying to organise something for children at our Library's first anniversary event. We had lego club taster sessions planned but the lady who runs them is ill and out of action for the rest of the year at least. We have someone who is going to do Meccano sessions but she can't do our celebration day. I'm likely to disappear in whirl as I try to find someone else to fill the gap.

So, I'll just have a little rest and gird my loins for the school run and hope some inspiration strikes!

tizliz you could take a second "mobile home" for all your books and if the budget was getting a bit short, you could open it as a LIBRARY ( with a tearoom on the side?)

We have a friend who owns a park home site. Some of the homes are lovely and he keeps the site beautifully and has just built a new toilet/utility block even though he only gets a few motor homes and tents come in - it is mainly for the residents so they don't have to squeeze in a washing machine. But, it is not for me. Where would I put all my books?

You're right soop a park home would be a downsize too far for us. The trouble is the site was so tranquil and beautiful and the homes so modern and move in perfect we were tempted for a moment !

Alea glad to hear your DH was feeling better and you got a much deserved rest .

Today we have DGS3 for his usual Wednesday afternoon time. The gym is still being refurbished so we were hoping to go out but I think it will be hot wheels and Lego for us.

Tomorrow because of polling we have DGD1, DGS2 and 3 so we are going on an adventure. It will be outdoors if at all possible but that will mean you need to keep your fingers crossed for good weather for us .

Alea with luck you will catch up with sleep knowing that DH is being cared for properly. The antibiotics appear to have kicked in. I do hope that they do not send him home too soon. That appears to be the order of the day with most folk who have been hospitalised for whatever reason.

crafting a sad event for you, but I think you must be right when you say he will be the one least aware of it all and therefore the least upset. Keep that thought in your mind-it is the BEST THING for him.
DH is much more comfortable than he has been for the last 2 weeks. He is on IV fluids and anti- b's and the pain in his lower back virtually gone. His thinking is not exactly razor sharp, but a lot clearer than recently, so the likely diagnosis does seem logical. Glad he is being checked out because the last 2-3 weeks have been dire - miserable, weak, breathless, tired all the time, lost appetite etc etc etc. Oh and did I say grumpy?
I had my best night's sleep for week's last night knowing he was in safe hands and that SOMETHING was being started.
We shall see. I am not fretting that it is serious actually, but even not serious wears you down!!
