Feeling rather sorry for The Queen

A serial philanderer? Oh, give over. He's been an absolute rock to the queen and whatever has given him a twinkle in his eye has never embarrassed her. Yes, he's a character and thank goodness for that.

I think she's very dutiful and professional and it can't have been easy for her being married to a serial philanderer...although I don't think he would have bored her. Quite a character is Philip, not for the faint-hearted!

Jings - that man, a surgeon named Knott, was on Desert Island Discs last week. I was very impressed both by him and by HM's compassionate and original response to his stress by suggesting that they fed the corgis and dorgis together. What a woman! She can wear any colour she likes by me!

It was a surgeon jingle he'd been treated wounded children and been thoroughly traumatised. I read the book by the Knatchbull boy who survived the bomb that killed Mountbatten. He found the Queen one of the most understanding people while he was recovering.

You couldn't really wear those startlingly bright colours on normal occasions either. I think she wears those colours partly so that people can spot her easily and partly to look special.

In that article I read, by the secretary chap, it said how, at a banquet she was sitting next to a man who had been in the Iraq war. Talking about it got too much for him and he couldn't go on. What she did to help him out was to call for the Corgis to be brought in and she and the poor man fed them. Relaxed him. Really kind and understanding she was

I have quite a collection of hats (some from the charity shop - people must send them when they have worn them just the once for a wedding). Probably I should throw them out but I keep them just in case.

Yes her shoes are a good height. I suppose they are handmade - that would cost a bit.

If I was Queen I would only wear silk underwear. When we were in Harrogate last month the coach driver said that Rigby and Pelham? Who are the Queens corseteers sell bras for £1500!!

I wish I could wear a hat like she can. I might get some shoes like hers. I can't cope with high heels anymore, well, not for years, but hers seem just high enough to give a bit of lift without really being high.

whitewave I expect her first priority is the corgis and the dachshunds!
I expect she would like to wear tweeds and a headscarf and has a little inward groan when Angela gets out her best coat and hat.

Then the red boxes - mind still as sharp as ever even though she is 90!
Perhaps it is the 'no carbs' rule?
And I don't suppose she has that much time to spare even when on hols. It's like taking your laptop with you and keeping in constant touch with the office (only it is the red boxes instead).

I don't think her cast-offs go to charity shops - there will be a display of the Queen's clothes (including dressing-up clothes from childhood) at Windsor later in the year.

I wonder how many different hats she has had in her life?

I have 3. One for daughters wedding and 1 for sons wedding both languishing on shelf carefully wrapped. 1 for the sun which I hopefully wear every summer.

I suppose that helps keep the weight off.

You would have a huge amount of spare time if you didn't have to do any washing, cooking or housework. So walking, reading and feeding ones dogs helps fill the time. I could live like that!

I wonder how many wardrobes she has. Does she charity her cast offs?

Oh, and that bloke says she doesn't drink much. Only one drink, rarely two. And she doesn't smoke. I can't understand that last bit because when that bloke managed to get into her bedroom at Buch Hiyse she was said to have given him a cigarette. Why would she have had ciggies in her bedroom if she doesn't smoke?

And what did .towsend say if her choice Jingle? I can't recall his exact words

I feel a bit envious of her. I know she works hard, but a lot of it is done sitting down at a desk. She doesn't have to get exhausted doing hoovering and ironing. All the dull stuff is done for her.

Some chap who is or used to be her some sort of secretary, said she is woken at 7.30, she reads a lot, walks a lot, and feeds her dogs herself. And she eats no carbs with her dinner.
