Sorry, I got kind of confused, my previous comment was for Numberplease, re the Logic mags.

I've also subscribed to Yours magazine for a few years ad thoroughly recommend it. It works out at about £1 per copy (fortnightly) and is also available online. Has lots of ideas for the home, plus interviews with interesting people, some famous, some not.
Give it a go.

Landscape if you like country stuff, recipes, craft ideas and gardens. A bit pricey at 4.25 but its not every month - not sure how often. I get mine in Tesco. Much better than country living which I find a bit "home counties" !

Yes, magazines are a price now! I subscribe to Candis and have done for years. I considered stopping it but because of the price of mags but I enjoy reading it and it gets passed on at least twice, so felt if I stopped it I would not only be depriving myself but also others. Donations from the magazine also help many charities which you can read about in the mag along with puzzles, stories, health updates and more. Handbag size too! Check the website to see if it might be any good for you.

I subscribe to 'The Spectator' which is witty, interesting, well informed and the quality of the writing is superb.

Subscriptions to Gardeners World (Lots of offers), Puzzler and the Radio Times.

I have Essentials on subscription which covers a wide range of subjects.

Generally Im not that keen on magazines these days but my husband takes the Oldie and I find that quite entertaining.

I agree. You can't beat a book. I've just finished Dublin's Fair City by Cathy Mansell.
I do enjoy magazines but, I also agree that they have become pricey and I find books cheaper.

Does anyone remember "She" Magazine? I used to get it regularly when the children were young, and always enjoyed it, then stopped for some time and when I started reading it again, found I was so way out of touch I didn't know what they were talking about. The thing I remember most about it is that one of the columnists - I believe her name was Naomi something, had exactly the same eye - let's say condition, because I cannot think of any other description - as Harry Secombe, and seemed to be quite proud of the fact. There was also another columnist who would write lovingly about his cats.

I don't often post on here but had to say that Candis is my favourite magazine. It has all the items you say you are interested in peaceatlast and more. It's handbag sized and what's more, Candis contribute to charities from the sale of every magazine. What more could you want?

My son and Dil got me subscription for BBC good food two years ago and I loved it they ask me what I would like this year and I ask for it again its like a mini birthday present every month if it popped through my letter box this very morning

I get Prima subscription with tesco points . You get the dress patterns as well if you subscribe. I have a box full waiting for when I have time to sew again! I do like magazines but they are so expensive if you buy them singly.

I bought Woman and Home for the first time this month and was really surprised by how interesting it was. I have had it over a week now and still have not read everything in it.

I have never heard of Candis! Must look it up. I subscribe to Good Housekeeping, Woman and Home and Prima and they suit me fine. It's much cheaper to subscribe than buy them in the shops. I also read Yours from time to time, but find it a bit elderly in its outlook although some articles are interesting.

I really enjoy Good Housekeeping, it's a mixture of all your interested. I love it when it lands on the door mat,an excuse to put the kettle on and some me time!!

I don't find any magazines on offer worth buying any more -the only ones I really enjoy nowadays are those ones.ypu get free with newspapers- the others are all full of stupid pointless celebs like the Kardashians & nasty cheap fashions -but the ones aimed at older women are even more witless -seem to assume we are all married all love hideous polyester clothes & spend our time going round National Trust houses or buying new sofas -dear god beyond depressing

NonnaAnnie, I`ve just written to Puzzler as I`ve tried to subscribe to Logic, but the application is geared to paying by Direct debit, and I want to pay using my credit card, I don`t have the right kind of bank account to do direct debit. I wlii be awaiting their reply. Thank you for the link.

This thread prompted me to buy a 'Yours' today which I occasionally buy and usually enjoy. It is probably aimed at the more mature but does seem to have a wider range of articles than some. I also like it because it is on very matt, off white paper. I have problems reading the glossies these days as the reflection irritates my eyes.

Printmiss, you've said exactly what I thought. One of the first times I read She was when I put it in my suitcase to take to hospital when I had my first baby. It was funny, clever and thoughtful, and you could enjoy every article. Vanessa Feltz and Maureen Lipman had monthly columns, both very good communicators, and then...a new editor. I swear it was all about how to leave your husband, live with your lesbian lover, more sex and no more fun. I gave up and I've yet to find a good, intelligent magazine worth buying.As for so-called celebrities, who are these people that everyone needs to follow and copy, not us by the sound of it! Oh, I did read a magazine in the waiting room some time ago....it was a mens magazine, can't remember the name though.

I think that 'woman and home' is probably the nearest to what the OP is looking for. I too love 'country living' and 'homes and gardens' etc but unless a friend gives me a back copy I don't buy one apart from maybe the Christmas one.
I used to love 'pins and needles' when I was a girl and 'womans weekly', you cant get 'pins and needles' now and 'womans weekly' has changed so much, I don't like it. I really hate magazine articles that tell me about celebrity gossip.

When I was a girl I used to read a magazine called 'home chat', my granny used to buy it and it was full of home hints and patterns etc, I would love to find some old copies to reminisce.
