I get Prima subscription with tesco points . You get the dress patterns as well if you subscribe. I have a box full waiting for when I have time to sew again! I do like magazines but they are so expensive if you buy them singly.

My son and Dil got me subscription for BBC good food two years ago and I loved it they ask me what I would like this year and I ask for it again its like a mini birthday present every month if it popped through my letter box this very morning

I don't often post on here but had to say that Candis is my favourite magazine. It has all the items you say you are interested in peaceatlast and more. It's handbag sized and what's more, Candis contribute to charities from the sale of every magazine. What more could you want?

Does anyone remember "She" Magazine? I used to get it regularly when the children were young, and always enjoyed it, then stopped for some time and when I started reading it again, found I was so way out of touch I didn't know what they were talking about. The thing I remember most about it is that one of the columnists - I believe her name was Naomi something, had exactly the same eye - let's say condition, because I cannot think of any other description - as Harry Secombe, and seemed to be quite proud of the fact. There was also another columnist who would write lovingly about his cats.

I agree. You can't beat a book. I've just finished Dublin's Fair City by Cathy Mansell.
I do enjoy magazines but, I also agree that they have become pricey and I find books cheaper.

Generally Im not that keen on magazines these days but my husband takes the Oldie and I find that quite entertaining.

I have Essentials on subscription which covers a wide range of subjects.

Subscriptions to Gardeners World (Lots of offers), Puzzler and the Radio Times.

I subscribe to 'The Spectator' which is witty, interesting, well informed and the quality of the writing is superb.

Yes, magazines are a price now! I subscribe to Candis and have done for years. I considered stopping it but because of the price of mags but I enjoy reading it and it gets passed on at least twice, so felt if I stopped it I would not only be depriving myself but also others. Donations from the magazine also help many charities which you can read about in the mag along with puzzles, stories, health updates and more. Handbag size too! Check the website to see if it might be any good for you.

Landscape if you like country stuff, recipes, craft ideas and gardens. A bit pricey at 4.25 but its not every month - not sure how often. I get mine in Tesco. Much better than country living which I find a bit "home counties" !

I've also subscribed to Yours magazine for a few years ad thoroughly recommend it. It works out at about £1 per copy (fortnightly) and is also available online. Has lots of ideas for the home, plus interviews with interesting people, some famous, some not.
Give it a go.

I've subscribed to Woman and Home for several years. I like it because it's not aimed solely at younger women. Older women are always represented in a broad range of ages in the fashion and beauty pages although the models are, of course, too thin. They do a lot of 'makeovers' of real people and often feature real women who have changed careers or started successful businesses in mid-life. It also has travel, food and home sections. There's some attention paid to celebrities but it doesn't dominate.

I look forward to both magazines arriving but they usually come quite close together, which is sad because I don't apply any delayed gratification, reading them as soon as they drop through the letter box! ? So they are finished too soon. That's when I start buying the home improvement magazines....

Would agree with you Harris27, Prima and Woman and Home - both mags have a good variety of articles.

i used to love the Oldie (and had about 20 of my travel and lifestyle articles published in it) but find it has got awfully dull since the change of editor a couple of years ago. I get Olive and Hood Food magazines and enjoy experimenting with new recipes.

Pleased to learn that I am not the only one dissatisfied with the magazines currently on offer. I used to enjoy perusing the newsagents for one that caught my eye, buying it and then scuttling home to read it with a cuppa. My little luxury?.
Cannot help feeling that we are a largely disregarded hole in the market. We have time, inclination (for a little relaxation) and income for such minor luxuries. Someone is missing out on a large potential profit.

Amateur Gardening and Prima..
Amateur Gardening is delivered every Saturday and is full of good gardens advice and often has free seed packets.
Prima has been a favourite of mine for years. I try and do the puzzles.

Sometimes I subscribe using Tesco or nector points and always through Quidco cash back site.

Occasionly I buy Yours in the shops.

I like woman's weekly and my weekly I also have a subscription for woman and home. I must admit I have a weakness for mags and buy home and antiques also landscape.Tesco have a free magazine and I love a freebie

I have Good Food magazine and Coast magazine delivered. If you like the seaside then Coast is great. As an ex Brighton resident now living in Deryshire I love reading about the sea side.

Decided to subscribe to Good Housekeeping again (used to have it a few years ago). I may even be given a free gift of 'cultured pearls' for taking it on - don't think they'll be on a par with Galen's though

Jane 10, I buy Peoples Friend occasionally, not regularly, and always enjoy it, but don`t think I`d want to read it week after week.
