Lona, I de-cluttered when I downsized but 16 years later, it's as bad as ever - maybe worse! DS1 keeps saying he will come and help me to be ruthless. Promises...promises!

NanaandGrampy Fri 03-Jun-16 14:22:53

Sorry ladies it should have read that in the bathroom there is a TV IN the mirror!! Only in America eh?

I feel your pain Lona ! We have been trying to declutter prior to downsizing and it just seems to mean moving stuff from one place to another lol , hope you do better than us!!

Lona Fri 03-Jun-16 14:19:20

Oh that looks lovely NanaandGrampy, I could do with a peaceful view to gaze at just now.
Think I've taken over bellasnana's stress now that she is away on her much needed holiday with Galen!
I thought I'd got rid of loads of stuff, but there is still far too much!
???

Bellanonna Fri 03-Jun-16 14:05:00

Lovely pics of your apartment N&G. The position is ideal too. Enjoy your last week there. Didn't quite get the bit about the mirror.

NanaandGrampy Fri 03-Jun-16 13:19:54

Good morning all!!

Belated Happy Birthday number you sound like you were given lots of treats !! What a lovely day.

So sorry ann to hear you're having a bad time . It's a shame we are all so far flung as I could see an away day for 'kitcheners' turning up to lend a hand. I'm sending you ????? (at times like this cake just won't cut it!!)

Alea oh that brought back memories of sixpence at the sweet shop. Not only did you get loads but somehow they tasted better !!

Congratulations on your BIG WIN Charley !! Oh the things you could buy! But I understand the saving for care thing, however I have decided that I shall be opening a Care for Kitcheners home, here in the sun !! You can be my first guest . I shall require payment in sherbet dabs !! All will be welcome , and soop will keep us all in line :-)

Morning Nanak54 !!

Into the last week of our epic holiday and we're ending it in style!! I've added a couple of pictures of our one bed apartment . Grampy is thrilled to find a to IN the mirror in the bathroom , though God knows why smile .

Paris floods pictures

annodomini Fri 03-Jun-16 13:05:16

I've just tuned in to the French Open. It must be very cold in Paris as Serena and her opponent are playing in leggings and Serena seems to have a sweat top on as well. The news about flooding in Paris is alarming - the Seine so high that they are moving art works from the lower floors of the Louvre which is closed as is the Musée d' Orsay. Is it selfish to hope that the weather in France improves by the end of July?

Alea Fri 03-Jun-16 12:13:13

Male logic- presumably "Coffee made with water, plus milk" hmm

Tizliz Fri 03-Jun-16 12:09:17

Typical conversation with my OH just now.

"would you like a drink?"
"yes, please"
"coffee, water or milk?"
"both"
"you can't answer both to that question!"
"well, I don't want tea"

laugh or cry!

P.s. No sun this far north, just rain, cloud and cold.

Alea Fri 03-Jun-16 11:40:58

The thought of Aiden Turner scything our retirement home garden is warming me up nicely thank you! grin

kittylester Fri 03-Jun-16 11:12:16

You are very welcome NanaK54 especially if you have cupcakebrew or wine

It looks as though we might need help with Alea - the cold appears to be getting to her!grin

Ann, huge, warm, gentle (((hugs))) for you. flowers

nanaK54 Fri 03-Jun-16 11:01:48

Knock, knock I wondered if I might pop into your very friendly kitchen from time to time?

I wouldn't be any trouble at all, promise

Alea Fri 03-Jun-16 10:58:08

We need Soop's Kitchen Home for the confused and bewildered for Kitcheners with Attitude
Then we could organise our own ceilidhs, trips ( maybe rephrase that) to garden centres, pets and pats and the occasional dram!
Gary could do the garden for us if Aiden Turner is otherwise engaged grin

Charleygirl Fri 03-Jun-16 10:46:52

I may have little choice as I have no family in this country.

Alea Fri 03-Jun-16 10:41:20

Unless I get lovely visitors like Soop and macSporran, 15 minutes is about as long as I intend to spend in a care home!
grin

Charleygirl Fri 03-Jun-16 10:39:05

Also belated birthday wishes from me number.

Oh ann if I could help I would and I do think that you may regret saying that you are looking forward to a few days in hospital. I warn you that the pain is with you for at least 5 weeks after surgery. I think your main problem is your DH as he is beyond understanding that you can no longer be at his beck and call 24/7 and that you need some "me" time.flowers

It is another miserable day here and no doubt I will have the heating switched on during the evening.

I thought that my £25 premium bond win would pay for the first 15 minutes in a care home, towards which I am saving!

annsixty Fri 03-Jun-16 10:27:43

Well at least we have beautiful weather here in the north, bright and sunny and warm. Just want to make you jealous. Thanks for all good wishes, they really are appreciated.I can't actually believe that I am almost looking forward to a few days in hospital. I may live to regret those words!!.

Alea Fri 03-Jun-16 10:01:33

Big, but gentle, hugs to Annsixty, you have much to put up with and being the principal carer must just finish it off - you need someone to care for YOU right now. Pain saps your energy whatever, doesn't it and I can think of no helpful quick fix (apart from cake) but seriously, sending you what support the Internet can send.
Nice to hear tizliz is in the £££££ - as my Scottish granny used to intone "Don't spend it all in the one shop!" That usually accompanied the sixpence she would give me. Oh do we all remember the sweetie shop when you would put your pennies on the high glass counter and ask what you could have for sixpence? Usually quite a lot, penny chews, flying saucers, sherbet dabs (she's off!)
It is stil cold and grey down here and I am drinking coffee and trying to think of good reasons for not being more proactive. Answers on a postcard, but second class stamp will do!

Lona Fri 03-Jun-16 09:00:25

ann So sorry that you're having such a tough time, could you get stronger painkillers for your knee? On top of everything else, the pain drags you down even more (((hugs)))
Don't be too quiet, we need you in the kitchen! Can you bake while sitting down? ?
wine ??? ?

cornergran Fri 03-Jun-16 07:41:17

Sorry things are difficult ann. Sounds as if you have a lot to deal with. Sending a hug and your choice of brew, plus anything else that gets you through the day. Take care. Children's internal processes do takes over, kitty, timing is all smile. DH is just off to warm croissant (his Friday treat) and make a large pot of tea, will leave some when ready, he won't mind sharing. grin.

annsixty Fri 03-Jun-16 07:11:51

Thank you both, I will not leave you, just a little break to gather myself together, the cake sounds good but "something stronger" would sound even better?

kittylester Fri 03-Jun-16 06:57:27

Belated birthday wishes number, glad you had a good day.flowers

Ann, glad you are still popping in. You know that soop's kitchen is just the place to offload your worries or even just to pop in for cake!

I won't be around much this morning as we have had DGC4 and 5 overnight. I'm typing this to the accompaniment of Justin's house having had around 4 hours sleep as dgs needed a poo at 2.30 am!

Oh well, up and at 'em! brew

thatbags Fri 03-Jun-16 06:50:58

Just a hug, annsixty, and flowers

annsixty Fri 03-Jun-16 06:30:54

Hi kitty soop and all. I'm still here and keeping an eye on you all. I am not posting just now as life is currently a car crash for me.
So many probs,H, eyes, family etc and I am in so much pain with my knee I just am not coping well which is not me.
I know of course I am not on my own as so many of you have problems just as bad and sometimes worse.
My age and everything are really catching up with me, oh dear,it finally comes to us all, even though we think it never will, fools that we are!!
Very best wishes to all and better days to come.

dustyangel Thu 02-Jun-16 22:44:31
