Correct for all 3 - a girl and 2 boys (me and my 2 brothers - I don't have children). Wonder how it works?

Accurate for both of mine. I can't speak for the GC because they all overshot their due delivery dates.

It was correct for my first - I knew the date of his conception. I didn't for my daughter so I couldn't test it.

It was wrong for my DS but right for my DD (hmm, law of averages ). My parents had 4 of us, only one of which it was true for!

But as has already been pointed out, I don't really know the conception dates of my siblings and me. For all I know we were very early/late and had actually been conceived in a different month than I calculated.

For me there was one right, one wrong. DD has one girl and three boys. According to the chart she should have three girls and one boy!

I don't know the dates for any of them, Ana, even my own I just went with 9 months. It's a load of baloney anyway (and I still haven't done any of those jobs....)
If I was hoping for a boy or girl though, back in the day, I might have used this as well as the other silly things that have been recommended over the years - certain diets, hmm positions etc. No harm in it, I suppose.

But Maggie, how can you be sure of the conception dates for so many? Just counting backwards 9 months isn't always correct.

It's just a bit of fun, surely, but I was surprised to find it worked for my three children and my three grandsons. Then I tried it on the dates for my parents (my sister and I) and it was right again. Then I tried my sister's dates for her two daughters, and it worked. Then I tried my niece's dates for her three children, and it worked again. Which just goes to prove two things - that I have far too much time on my hands and that I am looking for anything to put off doing the jobs that need doing round the house.

I have 2 daughters, but one would have been a boy according to this.

It seems two of my 3 girls should have been boys. So have to think it is a load of rubbish.

I would say it is the placebo effect - people remember when it is correct, but if it is wrong they assume that on this occasion it is "the exception that proves the rule"

What about leap year? The end of one month and the beginning of another would be on different days in different years. It couldn't be correct for both eventualities.

It was for my daughter. It is probably one of those effects of people taking particular notice of a possible coincidence.
