bella,
and hugs.
soop, that's a lot of falls in a short space of time. Perhaps it is worth mentioning to your GP as others have suggested.

Hello you lot...here we are again...happy as can be...all good friends and jolly good company...

bella,
and hugs.
soop, that's a lot of falls in a short space of time. Perhaps it is worth mentioning to your GP as others have suggested.
Bella so sorry about your sister. We all wonder how you have managed with so much to cope with. ((Huggs)). Come and sit a while in the kitchen with us.
Lona good news about your house offer. It always feels strange to leave a home but let's hope the future is better for you. Concentrate on looking forward to your 70th ( and don't forget to bring us some cake ) and enjoying yourself.
Alea my two were both 2 weeks late......
we'll sit here and wait with you.
Yes it is a worry that M&D live so far , dad not able to travel that far either, we used to collect them for visits he can't cope with the journey now. Mum wouldn't like the word doddery either, she was most annoyed that After her accident we took away her step ladders .
Bella you and your family have had more than anyone's share of brushes with cancer and I am so sorry that the latest battle seems to be being lost. My deepest condolences to you and your sister's family. I hope their last months are comforting and relaxed for them all and for you.
Bellasnana I have no words which are adequate, just sending you what support and sympathy I can. X
"Let ve" is what my iPad came up with for live sorry!
Evening all. I've plonked myself down on the settee, move up Rory, feeling somewhat despondent. However, having read back through a few posts to fill myself in on what's been going on in the kitchen, I have to say my gob is well and truly smacked!
Lona to have an offer on your house so soon after putting it on the market is remarkable. It took me a year and countless people tramping through before mine was sold. Congrats. I hope it all goes according to plan.
My other shock, horror was to hear you are soon to be 70. From your youthful appearance in photos I would never have believed it. Congrats again
I'm feeling like I'm about to crack. Been brave now for nearly two years, but it's all catching up with me. My darling sister has been told the chemo is no longer working, she also has lymphodema in her arm which has swelled up dramatically and causes her a lot of pain. She is having five days of radiotherapy but is very down, hardly surprising, and I'm feeling deja-vu as another loved one fights the unbeatable Big C
Dearest soop , I am very sorry about your fall but don't let it stop you going places. Maybe a stick might be enough to give you a bit of support. All the modifications in the house won't help when you are out in public. MacSporran will have to hang on to you a little tighter
Sorry to ramble on. Thanks for the company and I shall try to be in a more perky mood next time I cross the kitchen threshold.
I am so pleased your mother has made a good recovery. It is such a worry when elderly parents let ve a distance away, isn't it?
However, I trust our soop , being a mere youngster, is a long way off feeling "doddery" (I hope) , although maybe less cavorting up ladders and squeezing through wee room windows might be advisable!!
Hi Soop, I have lurked for a while and don't post often but felt I should tell you about my mum, I am not inferring that your situation is the same but just sharing her story.
My mum had a series of falls just before Christmas and failed to get checked by GP. She didn't tell us and she is very stubborn. On 19th December she had her 3rd fall in a week and fell indoors and she fractured her femur. She had surgery, and spent 2 weeks in hospital. DH and I stayed there for 5 weeks as my mum is my dads carer, he has had heart attacks and has essential tremor. Anyway blood tests showed up an underlying problem which had caused her to fall. My point is if she had taken the falls more seriously she may not have gone through the horrendous pain and hospital stay. And on a selfish note we would have seen our DC and DGC at Christmas. My parents moved 200 miles away 20 years ago and I am an only child, they have no family near them. Mum has made a marvellous recovery, I am very proud of her, she can now walk quite well with 1stick very impressive for an 85 year old. DH was a star he still works and worked there for the duration. Sorry to interfere but would hate anyone or their loved ones going through this, it was very traumatic. Mum thought she was just ' doddery' but now her medication has been changed she feels much better all round. However she still hasn't learned her lesson, she has been feeling dizzy lately but won't go to the GP, not much I can do if she refuses to go. She was also told to keep hydrated and drink plenty, she won't do that either. She's unlikely to change now at 85 bless her Take care.
Another fall! Oh soop, this is serious.
You shouldn't have different levels of floors in the house. Husband has an obsession about this. Can't you level the floor off?
And you have various levels outside too, if I remember right.
Sorry if you all have rain, we have lovely sunshine again. Just having a little break. We have visitors coming tonight so have cleaned right through, 4 loads of washing (don't suppose they will get ironed), ham cooked and am now making tomorrow's dinner. Then just the car to vacuum. Too much I know but hopefully nothing to do for next couple of days.
soop. I can't add anything to what alea and others have said, but it seems like sensible advice. PLEASE keep your promise and make this the last trip. And PLEASE rest a bit more than you do. 3 nasty falls in a short space of time are not good for one. Lots of sympathy and lots of love, and maybe consider that handrail!
Alea Your advice is sound. I do have low blood pressure. I do wear sensible shoes. MacS witnessed last eve's tumble. He's certain that the right foot (turns in) caught the step, and I couldn't grab on to anything other than a wee cabinet drawer that pulled out as I fell. I have to raise my hat to the skill of the orthopaedic surgeons. Two replaced hips remain in situ.
The new baby will receive a wonderfully warm welcome (when he/she decides the time is right)...^us lot^ are pacing the floor.
soop my son did discuss everything with me.
Please be careful
I agree with Alea xx
soop, I am going to be serious.
If there are any potential accidents black spots in your hoose do seriously consider handrails, grab rails or whatever BEFORE something happens. I had to give up our very smart green ropes on our stairs and have them replaced with handrails for DH's safety. Actually, quite pleased I did now!
Is it possible that you suffer from low blood pressure? Or perhaps an ear infection/wax which has affected your balance?,
My other observation is that these things can come in waves, one fall somehow affecting your confidence which then seems to cause another. In my case it has been when I have been under stress and there were periods when I was known to splat on to both knees and hands tripping over nothing especially when out on Graces's bedtime walkie. The one consolation was that I knew I didn't suffer from osteoporosis as I never broke anything!
Check your indoor footwear, no "baughles" , no mules or anything with shiny soles and no rugs (however lovely) which might ruck up and trip you up.
End of Elfin Safety lecture!!
Don't ask
!
DGS1 was apparently 2 weeks late too, his birthday is tomorrow? ? And DD's due date (for him) was April 28, six years ago.
Good afternoon to all our lovely Kitcheners and a very warm welcome to GrandTea. We always say...the more the merrier. Enjoy the companionship.
Alea....any news?
Lona
Would you have wanted your dear son to discuss the latest offer with you before confirming?
You are entitled to feel stressed. You've had an enormous amount of stress to deal with. Let your 70th birthday treat be a major turning point. Big (((HUGS)))
Crafting MacS photographs well. His kindly nature shines through.
TriciaF...the weakness is also a result of scoliosis. A lateral curvature of the spine. Pelvis askew. Gait inclined to be eccentric (at times).
This really is the final update on my silly tumbles - last evening, I fell down the two steps to our sitting room wooden floor. Swollen wrist and bruised thigh. MacS saw it happen. We may need to have a rail fixed for safety's sake. NO MORE updates. I PROMISE
I could do with some alcohol cake at the moment!
I've accepted an offer on my house, it's not bad nor fantastic but I'm a realist so I'm not complaining!
My son had a chat with the agent and although I'm reassured that this is the sensible decision, I feel like a deflated balloon!
The 16th viewer is coming at 6pm and the house will remain on the market until someone signs on the dotted line.
I haven't slept properly for ages and I feel exhausted and very emotional. It's my 70th in just over four weeks and I can't work up any enthusiasm to arrange a do with my friends.
Someone give me a boot up the jaxie please
Hope your bruises are not so painful soop and Alea "where's this gorgeous baby?"
I've just had a piece of the real cake crafting with a
sitting on the window seat in my own kitchen watching the pesky rain removing all the blossom from the crab apple tree. The patio looks lovely - the tree, less so!
I hope everyone with 'poorlinesses', either themselves or suffering with family members who are suffering, is feeling a bit better.
And where is that flipping baby?
Oooh yummy kitty thank you
I'll make a
to go with it for anyone who wants some. It is pouring with rain here and very dull and overcast. I think I will just sit in the kitchen for a while and enjoy my cake.
Sorry Crafting, try some of this almond and orange cake. It's from a recipe that absent put on gn and its absolutely lovely.
I wanted GandT but it was taken, still I got the important part, the "G"
Freudian slip. Sorry GandTea I misread your name
Welcome GandT Come in and have a sit and natter [nice name..don't get too close to me , I might drink you.
Soop I will send over a whole pile of cushions and I want MacS to tape them all over you so that if you fall again you are well padded. The bruises are spectacular. They are not on your btm are they?
. Glad you had such a good time with your family despite the falling over. Lovely pictures. Particularly nice one of MacS
Lona good idea to let your DS take over. Let's hope he gets a good price for you.
kitty what makes you think you can pop into the kitchen and not bring cake!
