Morning bags - another early riser! We have a frosty start here on the south coast but the sun is up and we look set fair for a nice day. Just off to Tesco so back later.

I can, indeed but have thought of some (possible ) ways of improving how you go about it so as to r Duce the amount of making up and also "adapted" the edging.

Surprisingly, I've seen more deer in Essex than I have in the Highlands. Most of the large deer in our area are escapees long ago from estate herds. The small muntjac are not so numerous to have become a pest.

I have never seen a wild deer- you are very lucky soop having that lady over the fence and about to have a baby.

cornergran I quite agree re contractors etc. I had my gas hob repaired today and the fellow was really surprised when I asked to see his Gas Safe badge. Let's face it what would an old biddy like me know about it? Quite a lot because a fellow spelled it out to me in words of one syllable, or at least tried to until I stopped him in mid sentence. He had come to do minor work a few weeks ago- he will not be returning anytime soon. I have grey hair so I am obviously deaf as well as stupid. You can now put your feet up and have a rest now your friends have left.

soop I love to see photos of Bracken- she is a big cat, as is Rory but she is female. She was fortunate that she had somewhere of safety to which to run. I am amazed that she has not moved in permanently yet.

Tizliz Here in bonnie Kintyre the sun is shining. The wind is still keen, but not as fierce. I've been shovelling barrow-loads of wood chippings and depositing same on the shallow, poor quality soil. There remains a fair amount to dispose of tomorrow.

Hello cornergran. I agree with you on both counts. Having company is welcome. Time spent with friends is precious. After five days, I would also heave a sigh of relief and enjoy some peace and quiet.
How dare those contractors patronise you. Respect where it's due.

nanaandgrampy what a beautiful baby. She made me smile. Feel for you and your husband alea, it's a miserable situation. You sound far more patient than I would be with a lack of diagnosis. Afraid I would be very ratty. On the subject iof ratty I think you are allowed Charleygirl after that amount of time. Fairly quiet day for me, enjoying some down time after a 5 day visit from friends. We love to see them, but I do like my own space. Had three contractors to provide quotes for small-ish things this week, tedious and the degree of talking down to me will, perhaps unfairly, definitely influence the outcome. Grey hair does not mean inability to understand fairly simp,e co celts - or not every day. .

Crafting I get so excited about seeing the family because the gatherings are few and far between. However, I shall probably bore you lot to tears as the weeks go by. Harmless stuff but a trifle irritating.

Rory's daughter, Bracken, was "put out" last night. A pregnant deer and a youngster approached Bracken's garden fence. The younger deer came close and pawed the ground (with irritation)...Bracken scampered into the utility room where Rory was lolling.

Thanks all. I finally got through and although his night wasn't ideal, he said there are no particularly noisy fellow patients as there had been on the Stroke ward which had a couple of sufferers from Dementia
More tests to be run apparently, we shall see.

Two power cuts today and it is not 11am yet. I do wish they could find the cause of all of this aggro- it has been going on for 7-8 weeks now. At least my heating is back on and to date luckily my computer has not been in action because that would create hassle or it has done in the past. Sorry, I am aware that others have more pressing problems.

Soop, exciting news about your family get together. I'm not surprised they all want to meet up with you and MacSporran . Nice to have something to look forward to.

Oh Alea what a worry. I remember when my DH has been in hospital waiting for the first text or phone call of the day to see how he was doing. I do hope they find the cause of the problem soon ((huggs))

Your DH will be pleased that he does not have full responsibility for the swimming session today after "losing" one little soul last week.

Snorkeling will be an excellent sport for the elder of the two young fellows. They get good exercise and fun swimming.

Sam is also going to have a super holiday and will not mind being farmed out if that is the superb treatment he will get. Snoozing on a bed when he is not allowed to do that at home will be his idea of bliss.

Alea how is your other half? I hope that he is being well cared for and he is on the mend.

Ooh what a gorgeous baby, simply adorable! Not letting myself think babies yet, DD 2 has one week to go (plus going "over" as it's a first baby) and is frantically juggling painting the wardrobe doors in their bedroom with her "nesting" instinct of dusting and washing floors!
I must be a natural slut because all I can remember before DD1 was sleeping on the sofa with my feet up !
DH looked not too bad yesterday but was moved last night from his nice quiet side ward to the main ward which will have been noisier and more disturbed in the night. I haven't had a morning text which doesn't bode too well - either feeling poorly/grumpy or had a bad night. Nobody seems to have found the locus of his infection and I am sensing an element of wanting to pass him round the departments. Currently on a chest ward, but the doctor yesterday wanted him moved to gastroscopy as the infection is not in his chest. Might end up in the gynae ward yet . <sigh>

Good Morning all !

No time for breakfast at all this morning. Got to pick up DD2 for pre school run before taking her to the opticians ( she doesn't drive after 6 failed tests !!) and then taking care of ( that means buying cake and a nice coffee and fruit for him in the café) whilst she she's the optician ! So I hope there will be something yummy here later - Ill need it !

ahTizliz I was close then but no cigar {smile] I used to admire them back in the day when I showed my Bernese Mountain dogs. I do love a bit of crotchet in the winter evenings but I am just finishing a blanket for DGS4 that I knitted ( never again !!)

Yes * charleygirl* those will be my partners in crime . DGS3 has already put in a request for a 'snorker' to aid his swimming as his 'gobbles' let in the water !! Sam will be going to 2 young friends - one is a police officer - where he will be indulged to within an inch of his life. More long walks than you can shake a stick at and I have seen a photo of him and the young officer snoozing as he is allowed on their bed( not something that happens here !! Then on my daughters return they will collect him and he will spend 2 weeks being their 3rd child .

Galen your work is lovely. I love a bit of crotchet and all my little ones have Nana blankets for when they are feeling poorly .

soop are you beside yourself with excitement at your wonderful get together? I know I would be. I get very excited about things like that and like to talk about them well in advance to get the most excitement out of the whole thing !

Alea how is your husband today ? He has been in the wars lately so I do hope he's feeling a lot better today.

Swimming day for us today but we have such a lot going on I'm tired just thinking about it. Had lovely cuddles with Sofia( I spelt her name the other way and was duly corrected) Grace yesterday she is merely 5lbs and fits comfortably in 2 hands. I have attached a picture for you all to have a virtual cuddle !

I have no idea what the temperature is but my heating has been on for ages and this room still has not warmed up. What I hate about modern houses is the staircase in the living room so it is as warm as toast upstairs. The sun is shining but I think that it is even too cold for the children to play outdoors.

Alea I do hope that your DH is looking and feeling better since your visit today. Grace must be wondering what is going on. Look after yourself.
