Yesterday I was doing one of my talks at a local WI. They were such a nice group of ladies that I stayed on for the tea and chat. I was so pleased to hear the story of one of their members. This poor soul suffered a serious stroke when visiting her DD in Australia. It left her so sadly disabled that there is no question of her ever returning to Scotland. She is now in a care home over there literally a stranger in a strange land. Her DD visits when she can of course. Anyway this lady's friends at the WI I was visiting got going, contacted the Australian version of WI and arranged that they 'adopt' her as one of their own and visit her and generally include her where they can. I thought this was a wonderful example of international working together by two sets of nice women. (Jings don't say 'pass the sick bucket' I was genuinely pleased to hear this story of quiet kindness)
