Well, that is good news!

That is good news - power to the grannies!!

Given what wallmart /Asda is generally like that does not surprise me.
It appears that when ASDA took over what was our fairly newly built COOP which was on a council car park . After some months ASDA started whinging about the local weekly market which had been running for six years. I guess they were worried about once a week competition. I think they probably got short shrift from the Council.

Asda have changed their minds in view of the public reaction to the removal of collection trolleys for local food banks

The donations trolley was still in my local Asda today. Is there a deadline for this ?
Perhaps I should read the article

I discovered this today and have confirmed it with my local food bank. They are disappointed, obviously, and say the collection trolleys can only be reinstated if they're manned.
From this I assume that people have been taking donations out of the trolley. As I say, just my assumption.
So sad if true, but at least there's a collection at my local Quaker meeting house so shall take my donations there.

That's not to say Asda are out of order.

Please sign this 38 degrees petition to show Asda that people are very unhappy at this decision.

For many people buying a few extra tins or packets of basic foodstuffs for the Food Bank and then depositing them in a marked trolley at Asda is a simple way of supporting a very worthwhile cause.

I think half of the problem is that it is owned by Wallmart an American firm. I also hope that the decision is reversed.
