I have 2 cats - if I drop something on the floor if its not covered in hair I eat it Just joking - if it isn't something I can rinse under the tap it goes in the bin!

I think we worry just a little too much about germs. Sometimes I think in our efforts to keep everything perfectly germ free we leave ourselves open to going down with a bump at the least intrusion of germs.

I think it was in a study by Prof David Strachan, that he suggested that a lack of childhood exposure to harmful germs and there being fewer childhood infections are to blame for the rise in allergies.

So we do use the 5 second rule and we haven't come to any harm yet.

I have never understood those people who say "The place was so clean you eat off the floor" Who would want to?

They tested this on I think it was 'Trust me I'm a Doctor' and found that there was contamination after being dropped on the floor. In any case I don't want to eat food from the floor.
