Lovely, lovely man. Couldn't believe it when DS told me.

What a shock. I loved his voice, he was one of my favourites , he'll be sadly missed.

I'm very sad, too, as are my girls. I met Alan Rickman at the premiere of The Winter Guest and I was so overcome, I couldn't speak, he was so gorgeous! He'll be greatly missed.

I've loved him in his many roles. He had a wonderfully expressive face and a voice that could send shivers up my spine. In a good way. What a very sad loss to the screen and the stage.

A great actor and a great loss. Loved many of his films, thought he and Emma Thompson salvaged Love Actually from being completely turgid. We have lost two exceptional performers this week.

Loved his films, very sad he will be missed as a fine actor

Just logged on. Really shocked and saddened.

DH was at school with him, a couple of years below, and always said he based some of his characters on the masters. He will be remembered as a great British actor.

I've just remembered my favourite Alan Rickman film. An Awfully Big Adventure, based on the book by Beryl Bainbridge. A little known film but worth searching out. As always Alan Rickman was wonderful in it, very sad ending though.

Another one bites the dust. Far too young to die at 69 (my age).

Yes an excellent actor and I can easily see why has so many admirers on GN.

sad
DD2 sat beside him a few years ago at some theatre dinner and I was madly jealous. She said he was charming, witty and thoroughly nice. She had the sense not to depress him by saying her mum fancied him rotten!

Maggiemaybe Thu 14-Jan-16 13:58:41

Oh no, that is so sad. A wonderful actor and so darned attractive. sad

Anniebach Thu 14-Jan-16 13:47:52

He seemed such a nice man whenever I've seen him interviewed. Truly, Madly, Deeply was the first thing I remember seeing him in, too. I loved him ever after. blush
