Feeling down now-wish I'd made arrangements for tonight now.

She was very sorry for herself, very wobbly when I picked her up and just lay on her bed giving me pathetic looks, whimpering and moaning. She has perked up a bit now but I worry that the inevitable fireworks tonight will make her unhappy.
Her tail looks dreadful, 1/3 has been amputated and another 2" beyond that shaved so that it looks like a trimmed cutlet! I expect it will be fine once the fur starts to grow again -hope so!!

Just the two of us here. Went to Homebase today to get some plumbing thingies for the washing machine then helped DD unpack her kitchen stuff all afternoon so now we're slumped in front of the telly.

The Mrs. Brown movie is shite disappointing so we'll be dipping in and out of Jools and Bryan Adams later.

Well, I've been on my own tonight but very contentedly. I had the company of a friend this afternoon and I have been invited out tomorrow. I know that my DC and their families are celebrating in their respective fashions and I've had a couple of nice phone chats with friends tonight. I cooked a lovely meal and have worked my way through a bottle of red wine.

Think of the upside - no frightful hangover tomorrow, no party debris to clear up, no wondering what you'd said or done in your cups.

The drink fuelled sentimental claptrap of HAPPEE NOO YEARS is a million miles away from thinking of family and friends. Just because you can't be with them in body doesn't mean you are not with them in spirit, so a Happy New Year to all of you and yours [dram] emoticon.

It's just us two here as well - it's just another day really. We're watching a sloppy film about a singing group called the Sapphires - 4 aboriginal girls who go to Vietnam to entertain the troops. Total bollocks of course, but we are enjoying it.

Don't be down Katek - there is so much pressure to celebrate these dates and those of us who are not out partying are made to feel second rate - we are leaving the young'uns party till dawn!

Resist the pressure! Enjoy your quiet time and happy new year to you and yours.

It's not so much celebrating NY as missing my family on a celebratory occasion. First time we've not been with one or another of them at NY

It is a pity we don't arrange meet ups on nights like this. Or even sleepovers, just so people aren't on their own if they don't want to be at Christmas or New Year.

Take heart, Katek, it's just another day/night and there will be other good times, it doesn't have to be now. We're at home and have just watched E.T, hardly the height of glamour. Just glad to be around , seeing our children and grandchildren grow and prosper, and enjoying reasonable health, when once that didn't seem possible.

We just took a nice walk round the park there were already lots of fireworks what is it with people? let fireworks off at midnight but at 8/9 o'clock? Why? I wasn't going to stay up but I know I'll be woken again at midnight so may as well just hang on.

I am in bed with my feet on the hottie. Have my IPad, radio, tv and book at the ready. Part way through a Sudoku.

DH pottering about downstairs as always.

Have absolutely no desire to go out and celebrate NYE.

rubylady! There are advantages to staying at home when you put it like that! Will have a cough-a-long to some good songs and eat Xmas chocs. No sign of any fireworks yet Nelliemoser, prob too early.

I really don't care about new year. I am shattered I could do with an early night but I expect there will be lots of noisy fireworks.

Don't worry Katek you are not on your own. I'm staying in too. I've just made our celebration meal as Christmas was a wipe out, and my son ate it and then disappeared back upstairs. I do wonder why I bother.

I am in also for the fireworks and my doggie, but I might try to get out next year as I've stayed in for many years now on New Years due to children. We've been to house parties but it's not the same if the kids are there, you can't relax properly. So, next year, bring it on!

At least we are not stood four deep at a bar, being eyed up by the weirdo, seeing people being sick, getting a kabab on the way home, oh, it does sound good, lol.
