Have you had your 15 minutes of fame?

I was on 15-1 this year and won my show. I was lucky enough to get through to the Grand Final but I was the first one off! I had been on the show before when it was with William G Stewart.

Oh! I was on Songs of Praise once (but that was more DS than me!)
We do have one or two relatives in the limelight but not me, I am Rose the Obscure.

This year I was part of a choir which sang at the BBC Proms in the park at Glasgow Green, that was great fun. I was also very lucky to be chosen to be part of the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games last year. I still remember the chair I had to carry. They organisers also gave me the honour to announce one of the countries. It was an experience which I'll never forget and made many friends of all ages.

Age 8, December 1956, I was interviewed for BBC 6 o'clock News at an Exhibition at Olympia, London, having just bumped down a long enclosed helter-skelter which was supposed to be like going to the moon - the question asked of me:- "would you like to go to the moon", and I apparently replied "ooooh no". My aunt was watching the News, and - although I had a "space helmet" on which was obscuring my face, she knew it was me because of my silver kukri brooch on my camel coat lapel !!

I was an extra in the recent film Macbeth when it was on location at Bamburgh Castle but you could only see me in the distance! My OH and I were on Flog It recently when it was filmed at the Bowes Museum. My antique was an album of vintage musical hall postcards. It was quite nerve-wracking but the expert, Paul Laidlaw, was really lovely and put us at our easte.

my wife,pam,and I are about to get our 15 minutes of fame this april 2016.we've been recently filmed by bbc4 talking about our memories of the 1950,s and first hearing Lonnie donegan for a new series called 'the people's history of pop'.they were quite impressed by our knowledge and also when we played a few skiffle songs with pam on her washboard and myself on my 50's style guitar.
we're in a skiffle band called 'the 6-5 specials skiffle band' and we play around the west midlands trying to raise money for local charities.we can also be seen on youtube which was where the bbc4 researcher first saw us.

I've done a Channel 4 "4Thought" opinion and I've done a brief interview for the BBC Arabic Service. By the time that was heavily edited and dubbed into Arabic, who knows what I was saying!

With a DD working in the film industry, DH & I have been recruited and seen as 'crowd artists' in a couple of feature films and 3 TV series. Back in the day, I did a few 'pieces to camera' as a spokeswoman for Women's Aid and most memorably a programme on local radio where the presenter played music interspersed with questioning me about WA. During one of the musical bits, he started telling me about a close friend of his who had been badly abused. As the music ended he broke down completely and was sobbing loudly. Fortunately, the sound man leapt into the booth and stuck on another record while I tried to comfort the presenter. Family listening at home said the heard nothing untoward but wondered why the interview was terminated abruptly.

However my main claim to fame was my regular 'appearances' on 3 series of '100 Women' with Sheena McDonald. I went along for company with a friend who was one of the 100 Women in the first show. It was a dreadful stormy evening and 3 of the 100 failed to turn up so I was co-opted, along with 2 of the Tea Ladies, to fill the empty seats, with strict orders not to speak as we were not part of the balanced sample of 100.
However the programme was recorded about a month in advance and Lo & Behold when the trailers started to appear, I was featured prominently, looking intelligent and thoughtful and as they used the same clip at the start of every show for 3 years, I became locally famous as 'that woman from 100 Women' though I never, ever spoke on the show.

I was on the Paul Stainton show on Radio Cambridgeshire talking about "Camchester Dreams" a dessert I dreamt up when Cambridge Utd were playing Manchester Utd in the FA cup. It was a combination or "mash-up" of Cambridge Burnt Cream and Manchester Tart, the recipe and pictures were posted on my facebook page which goes under the name of Sarah's CookerEbook.

Not my claim to fame, but my sister in law was in Paul McCartney's class at primary school!

Songs of praises - sorry .

My TV appearances have been only fleeting glimpses. A couple of Song of Praises, plus my arm throwing a ten pin bowling ball when I was an extra, along with my OH, in the first series of Peepshow. We were bowling all day and I could hardly move my arm for about a week afterwards!!! Put me off bowling for years .

I had a tv series made about my house! We lived in a seventies bungalow and I entered a competition to win a more energy efficient house. I won, and the prize was worth £5,000. (This was in the nineties) They were making a tv series called "Green Pages" and they showed all the work being done each week. We had the then secretary of state, Peter Bottomly come to have his photo taken with us. Mary Archer, also presented me with a certificate for the most energy efficient house. i was interviewed on radio, but can't remember being on the actual tv show.

I had my Tweet read out on Spring Watch last year, on live TV, and my name in the paper,because of it, Plus had a few letters published in magazines x

I once played two songs on the piano for Tony Berry of the Houghton Weavers when he came to do a concert at the local church. I accompanied him singingThe Lord of the Dance and The Rose of Tralee. Magic!

I saw Mick Fleetwood walking down the high street in my home town. I got his autograph and had my photo taken with him. He was very charming. The next week I was in the local papers.

I had my 15 minutes of fame last month when Which Money magazine did a small article about how to save money on Christmas presents with ideas from me. They even displayed my photo.

Been on See Hear a couple of times in the dim and distant past - I was a teacher of the Deaf and the film unit came to the school

Apparently I was glimpsed in a video on BBC Breakfast this morning!

My daughter was interviewed for a Mothering Sunday Songs of Praise when she was in Year 6 at Junior School. Hers was the last and longest of the children's opinions (about their mothers) to be aired and she was also filmed singing in the choir in Manchester Cathedral, centre front as she was always the smallest. In her interview she said the loveliest things about me, so that when I watched it alongside her on Mother's Day I welled up with emotion; she caught my eye and with a grin and three words she burst my warm, fuzzy, mother's pride bubble. She said, "So, I lied". (She does truly think I'm a great mother now though. )

Actually three of my children, my husband, my parents in law and yes, even I, have been on Songs of Praise at one time or another.

BBC Radio Manchester - a phone-in about school dinners when I was a local councillor. Such fame!

About 7 years ago after a very wild and windy night, we went down to our local tip, in our van, to get rid of some rubbish. Having been working on our old barn, I had my oldest tatty clothes on. After, we decided to carry on 5 mins to the beach cafe for a coffee and enjoy the wild sea.

We then found that there had been a wreck, and there was loads of huge timber planks being washed ashore. As we had a lot of work to do repairing a barn at our place, the OH decided we should take a few planks. The police were there and gave us a form to complete, declaring what we had taken. A couple of others were also doing this. We struggled with the very wet and heavy long planks, getting them up to the van between us.

It wasn't until we were nearly finished that we saw a BBC camera crew filiming, and that night were horrified to be on the local news. Even worse, a "friend" at work recognised me!! Took a long time to live that one down.
