Nankate

You really made me think and I have come to the conclusion I am nothing like I was in my youth. I bet my mum and dad were glad about that!

I've never really given it much thought before. I do like vegetables now , hated them when I was growing up so even my palate has changed. confused

Needlework. My mother didn't have a clue about needlework so I don't really know how my love of it began - from about the age of 7 I would cut up any scraps of fabric I could find and make things for my dolls to wear. I don't think I understood about hems and buttonholes, but they were always 'wearable'. My maternal grandmother was a seamstress and her sister was a tailoress, so my mother always said I must have inherited their skills grin.
I made my wedding dress and 3 bridesmaids' dresses, most of DC's clothes when they were small and now I'm enjoying sewing for my baby GD!

I loved reading and still love it. I can't think that I have been without a book since I was about 6 yrs. I finish one and start another.
I love snow and still get very childish about it.

My mum loved the horses too Tegan, can probably remember more jockeys from the 60s-70 than I can now.
Always loved reading, walking, Rod Stewart and watching old films. (They weren't so old before though! Oh, and cheese and Mars bars!

I bought a book of Christmas knitting patterns today even though I still can't knit [which, I guess follows on from a pattern of buying books and not reading them ie the bookshelf is an extension of my mind in some way]. I, too still manicure my nails but now it isn't to make my hands look nice but to hold my brittle crumbling nails together sad. I still love films and new music and the sea and the countryside. And I'm still on theneverendingdiet...sad.

Wonderful Tegan you are my kind of gal ! My late mum was a great follower of the gee gees.

Ana and Roses to answer your cake question. I cut the cake into 3 and put two parts in a little poly bag and keep it in my bag, so when I have cappuccino no 2 and 3 I have a little nibble to go with it. I am not mean I just want to keep my weight down.

I'm not sure I agree with you Roses as follows

I still love rock and roll
My favourite non alcoholic drink is ginger beer
I still am a hopeless cook
I still manicure my nails
I am still collecting costume jewellery

You may have changed but I don't think I have much.

Looking after animals, reading, listening to music and daydreaming.

I was fond of reading as a child and still read all the time!

Well, I was betting on the horses when I was 10 and am still doing it; only difference is that it's legal now.

I wondered about the cupcake as well.?
I think the only thing that I still like doing, that I always used to, is reading.
We do change a lot over the years, and so do our likes.

I loved needlework but it was considered useless or fuddy duddy or for people who couldn't afford to buy things so I kept quiet about it . It's really good to belong to groups who appreciate needle work now. It amuses me that SIL who was very contemptuous of sewing when I was a new girlfriend to now DH has taken up knitting in retirement.

I'm curious as to what happens to the other two-thirds of your cake, NanKate.

Do you take it home with you, or does the café save it for the next time you call in? tchgrin

Swimming , I go at least once a week and have done for many years.. except when my kids were small .

I have noticed recently how many of the things I liked in my youth are still the same at 69.

When I was 11 I used to take the bus into Birmingham and go to the cafe in Barrows and buy myself an orange squash and a chocolate cake with a face on it. I would sit on my own eating and drinking and just loving it.

Now in 2015 at least twice a week I buy myself a cappuccino and cake (only eat a third of it at a time) and read the paper and people watch.

What is it that you still enjoy doing?
