Number - it is clearly sign of character and individuality in tree terms. I suspect your DH secretly knows it is listing!

We have had a rooted fresh tree in the past but bought an artificial one after 'the year of the needles' when we unfortunately bought a cut tree. The needles were for ever turning up however much we cleaned up!

We have had our artificial tree for well over 40 years now and it still looks every bit as good as when it was new. We have decorated the tree but DH won't let me do the fireplace as we have just had a wood burner installed and he thinks it will be too hot to put my garland on the mantelpiece. It would be a shame not to ever be able to use it again which I know is what will happen if I give in. Does he have a good point or will it be ok?

Nelliemoser, you`re right, I`ve been saying it all week, but his lordship says it`s fine, what can I do? Just grin and bear it I suppose.

My sis-in-law is Swiss and they always light real candles on the tree on Christmas Eve.

I love all your trees, I remember many years ago when just married, putting up an artificial tree and hanging the pine scented car fresheners at the back. Oh dear.... I didn't have much sense.

I'm hoping that I've managed to upload two pictures.

With family coming for a week we need to make the place toddler proof so not too much sitting about at low level. I don't have a lot of room and so instead of a tree we put lights on the plant in the porch.

Then tried to make the fireplace and chimney breast look really nice.

So the candles on the tree were only lit twice, for about 1 hour each (with a bucket of sand and one of water hidden away round the corner and a water spray too. Tree only was in the house for a few days- sprayed daily- and candles lit on Chrismas day after late lunch, whilst we opened presents, and again the next day- and then out of the house on 1st of Jan.

We used to do this every year in the UK too- will always remember DD1 saying, about 5- oh mummy, can you imagine we are the only people in England to have a proper Christmas' so so sweet.

No tree for us this year- as we have just arrived in the UK and will be spending Christmas with DDs and GCs. But when we do have one, it has to be real, and locally cut, will only come into the house a couple of days before Christmas with its stem in a water holder- and have real candles on

I have got my real tree uptoday and have decorated it this afternoon. It is leaning to the right and is fuller on the left side so I am going to attack it with secateurs tomorrow.

Well mine is up but not decorated. I was in bed with lurgy all day Wednesday and not able to do much yesterday.
We have had an atificial tree for a couple of years since the DGs's arrived.

If they did get to pull it over it would not be so heavy if it landed on their heads, but it is tied down to two large Hifi speakers.
I will work on it when I have a bit more energy back. DGS2 is crawling every where now and a potential tree menace.

I'll try to put mine on tomorrow - in bed now. My hairdressers Christmas decs are utterly spectacular. A lot of her decs come from America and she decorates every single room. Takes her days.

It is artificial annsixty. I always had real trees but sadly had to give them up a few years back due to lack of space. The tree was bought the weekend before christmas in those days.

Jane I've quite a few that age too, couldn't bear to part with them.

That tree looks lovely. May I ask if it is an artificial one? I ask because I do think they have a better shape than real!! We ditched our artificial for this year and am now wondering if I did the right thing.
